Strange Experiments Create Body-Swapping Experiences

new s.yahoo.com

Scientists now have manipulated people's perceptions to make them think they have swapped bodies with another human or even a "humanoid body," experiencing the sensations that the other would feel and giving the illusion of being inside the other's body.

This could be used in criminal rehabilitation by letting them feel what it's like to be on the receiving end of violence. Or, perhaps we're getting one step closer to the "Matrix" playing out in real life. Studying which parts of our brain react when faced with the experience of "meeting yourself" could also further the understanding of how people regonize familiar faces, as opposed to strangers, or can also be utilized in creating virtual environments that are nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.

Very intersting, and frightening, at the same time.

Shamans have done this for thousands of years, without the help of technology, too.

I have no doubts many governments will be allured by this technology. Think of the mental torture possibilities this sort of perception altering gives those in charge of our security policies?

My browster doesn't like Yahoo news, does this make them actually feel pain, or just like they are in a diffrent body?

This sounds like "The Gom Jabbar Box" from Dune.

Some of science is trying to prove that some people are limited by the way their brain functions and not their spiritual self or psyche. It just may be some disconection between the higher and lower brain functions that needs to be repaired. They were most likely passive childen at some point in their lives. Maybe they could also be reduced to those memories and reprogramed.

My thought for a science fiction movie would be that criminals condemned to death or life in prison would be forced to swap bodies with some invalid or figure such as Stephen Hawking. Maybe even into some animal like a milking cow or trapped within some device like ghostbusters.

Sorta like casting out the demon.

There was a science fiction movie with Christopher Walken called Brainstorm back in the 80's. It reminds me of the headband that was mentioned from the Roswell crash.

It said that they experienced uneasiness, and tingling sensations, as if they were in another person's body. There are still kinks with the system as only about 80% experienced this disconnect.

Most of you guys cannot have read the article.
It doesn't actually swap bodies but makes people believe they have done so. This technology could NOT be used for such things as showing a criminal how it feels to be the victim, as they would still have to mess with the criminal's original body.
This article isn't as fringe or amazing as it seems at first glance
