Hi all,

Whilst watching the events in Mumbai unfold over the past few days, i couldn't help wondering how this will effect the training of our country's counter terrorism units?

I'm no expert on the history of terror attacks of this kind, but it has to be a first where there have been multiple attacks and hostages taken at multiple places?

Also the size of the buildings involved here. Clearing rooms is a task where you have to be thorough, but quick. Imagine having to speedily clear the hundreds of rooms in the hotels in Mumbai? Total nightmare. You'd need a guy running behind you with a santas sized sack full of stun grenades!

I know there was concern as to whether there was enough special equipment to cover all of the locations that were occupied here. Another issue to think about if these sort of attacks become a regular thing.

I also wonder whether these attacks will prompt a recommendation here in the UK for more police to carry weapons. I know this is a whole seperate and much repeated subject, but i have a feeling much will change due to these attacks.

Any opinions?

CX.
