A Response to the Extreme Anti-Gay Comments by My Brother, Newt Gingrich

www.alternet.org

Note: This letter to Newt Gingrich from his sister is prompted by his outrageous statement on Nov. 14 to Fox News's Bill O' Reilly: "I think there is a gay and secular fascism in this country that wants to impose its will on the rest of us, is prepared to use violence, to use harassment. I think it is prepared to use the government if it can get control of it. I think that it is a very dangerous threat to anybody who believes in traditional religion."

The snippet is Newt Gingrich's actual comment to Bill O'Reilly. Go to link to read the response his very sister sent to him. What a great letter she wrote to him. You know the Republican party is in trouble when their own families are turning against them. It seems to me that the GOP never is able to keep it's mouth shut and their comments to themselves. Haven't they yet learned that it always comes back to bite them in the butt? We have seen time and time again how the comments they make eventually catch up with them and do way more harm than good. Especially now. they need to rebuild after the severe hit they took this election. Comments like this certainly will not help get them back on their feet.

First I have to say that I was in the Navy with his Nephew by marriage. No one in Newt's family really agrees with him. He's seen as an real arse in his family.

Ok, now that is out of the way.

This "false fears" that the GOP is spreading is ridiculous. How is a secular society a threat to traditional religious people? I thought that Traditional Religious people were suppsed to be the one's whoh survive all changes in the secular world.

Gay or not they are human as all of us and deserve respect. However, my personal opinion about gay; they are an anomaly of nature. Assume for one moment that everybody in the world are gay, how would we continue the human race? We would not be able to procreate naturally (assuming no intervention by science) and therefore our race would be extinct. So leave the gay people alone and let them do whatever they want as they are bound to disappear one day.......

How is pointing out a thread of fascism an extreme anti-(insert group here) comment? It's possible for fascism to rear it's ugly head in any group.

I thought religious folks were supposed to be the most tolerant as well. Seems they are few and far between sometimes.

Rattan: I have never heard that train of thought before. Anomaly is a risky choice of words IMO. To me it means abnormal. going by that definition you would have to base things on "what is the definition of normal"? It means many different things to many different people.

Well, he does have a point. Gays think it is OK to use harassment whenever they feel like it..
