Update: Man killed at Hollywood Scientology center had made prior threats, police say

When he was a UCLA student 15 years ago, Mario Majorski was a committed enough Scientologist that he helped file a federal lawsuit against a professor who called the church a cult.

A church spokesman said the 48-year-old had not participated in Scientology activities for more than a decade, but in recent years he had made a series of threatening phone calls to church offices in Los Angeles and Oregon, where he had been living.

"There were over a dozen threats at various points since 2005," said spokesman Tommy Davis.

The church alerted police to the calls, which Davis described as ranging from veiled statements that "something bad" would happen to the church to direct threats of violence.

After reading more into the story, I learned that he also threatened a local Mormon church and swung an axe at an auto club worker who was bringing him gas. Furthermore, he threatened to shoot police who were investigating the axe incident.

This guy was clearly a ticking time bomb. The guard was the only object between the maniac and church goers. He clearly did the right thing. Imagine if the guard had been taken out. We would have a different story on our hands

You know what would be really interesting? If we found out that the reporter, his sources, or his editor were members of the church.

Really, everyone who ever has a public clash with these folks ends up vilified and maligned. It could be true, it could be false, but since we are aware of the nature of the nearly automatic responses of the church to such incidents, we may never really know.

I'm just surprised the alien overlords didn't just strike him down with some kind of intergalactic laser beam.




Sadly, this man was mentally ill. Plain and simple.

What surprises me most is that after all his verbal and physical assaults he didn't see jail time.

$cientology is NOT a church. They are an evil cult that rips people off.

Probably why this guy went off the deep end. He paid $300,000 to get to the OT levels and found out the cult's most deeply held beliefs involved ghosts who were thrown into a volcano.

$cientology = Dangerous Whacko Cult. Run, don't walk, away from them.

On the topic the man was obviously mentally ill.
