IBM plans 'brain-like' computers

Found this on the BBC this morning thought it would be worthy of a post.
I don't like the idea of giving machines a "brain". I dont like the smell of this.

I find this quite exciting. Computers that can actually think, wow. No.5 is alive

Why don't you like the idea of giving machines a brain? What could possibly go wrong?

The machine itself could possibly be the brain - this could either be achieved by building a supercomputer, via grid computing, or by the internet itself waking up. All scenarios are possible and could result in what's referred to as The Singularity.

The following is a graph illustrating the trend in supercomputing - as you can see 2013 is marked for the arrival of functional human brain simulation.
