Up to high-school teachers teach people the values of neoconservatism. They tell children the values of war and peace and how Democracy spreads. It
isn't really until college that they teach people liberal values where they start really questioning the neoconservative values. I think they should
try to create a way of teaching people more moderate values to lessen the political divide in the US here in my country. What do you think is the
problem and what do you think causes it with how ideologies are taught in school?
I think it's a well known fact that neocon beliefs can be found in most school textbooks even when the majority of the nation has been a Democratic
one. I am 95% positive that liberal values aren't taught to most people until they get to college regardless of the majority.
My history teacher told us a lot o U.S. history that wasn't in the textbook. And she claimed she had to sign a document that said she had to teach
things that would put the american history in good light.
Can any history teachers in here confirm anything like that??
But also Noam Chomsky said:
"Starting with kindergarten and first grade, the main requirement is that you do what you're told."
At a young age they try to make you patriotic and an obedient citizen. So I see how you would think that. They really need to teach people what
political ideology means at a young age and not just teach people about ideologies but also teach people about how they can think with politics when
they're young. They shouldn't cram opinions from the Whitehouse down your throat.
