Kangaroo genes close to humans

news.yahoo.com

CANBERRA (Reuters) – Australia's kangaroos are genetically similar to humans and may have first evolved in China, Australian researchers said Tuesday.

Scientists said they had for the first time mapped the genetic code of the Australian marsupials and found much of it was similar to the genome for humans, the government-backed Centre of Excellence for Kangaroo Genomics said.

So we share a large chunk of our genome with some bipedal marsupials in the outback. I kind of had a feeling that one day scientists would find some weird link with us and Kangaroos.

Now if they can just find links with ants, horses and wolves. If that ever happens I am really going to wonder if someone came here and just threw a bunch of different species genetic materials together and out popped humans.

Well this finally explains my pouch.

How is this even possible, unless a chimpanzee made sweet sweet love to a roo.

Yikes, what a mental image.

Yeh that makes sense actually as we didn't evolve from apes or kangaroo's.
They evolved with us from what we evolved from.
So there genome and evolution pattern is constructed similar to our own.
Much evidence points towards all of us evolving from reptiles.

We share genes with everything on the planet. Heck, we even share a decent amount of genes with bananas.
