I have never heard of a conservation effort that kills members of the very species it is trying to save. This doesn't happen anywhere else. It is ludicrous and a very lame excuse just to get whale meat onto Japan's dinner tables!
Do you really think the rest of the world is so gullible?
I suspect you really do not care about what the world thinks, any more than you care about the survival of the whales.
Oh, let me correct myself there. Your only care is that there be just enough whale meat to satisfy the apparent gluttony of the Japanese.
There is no need for anyone to consume meat from endangered species.
Period! Your excuses are disgustingly shallow.

This guys blog is not official he has translated it from records as far as i can tell

I have had a quick look at this link but not all of it at this time, naturally there is a lot of info. I am horrified that Japan needs to stockpile so much whale meat. I thought it was for scientific purposes. As far as I know when scientific research is done anywhere else we don't eat it afterwards. Excuses for the killings are” below a joke” I don't like what Japan is doing it’s not necessary. I would hope ATS members flag this thread and hopefully bring attention yet again to this unnecessary event in the name of scientific research that Japan instigates each year.

This is one of those...

'strange' topics

The Japanese have rights to hunt whales. They have been doing it for... you know forever...

I watched that show, Whale Wars, where the Boat, 'Sea Shepard', mentioned on pg 1, messes with the Japanese Whalers...

It is hard to put into words what they are doing on this show...

The Sea Shepard, and its crew are lead by a man who was kicked out of greenpeace, for being to radical... so this guy has to be really off the wall, a true example of the VERY-FAR-Left wing.

This guys tactics are extrodinary.

He will have some of his crew mates board a Japanese Whaling ship, then radio in that they were taken hostage. They call up everybody, saying that their crew was taken hostage, while they illigally boarded the ship...

They also employ an entire spectrum of home-made bombs...

with all kinds of chemicals...
everything from a slick chemical to make the deck slipery, to gases that stink, to acids that destroy the whale meat.

They also attempt to lodge a large rope into the propeller of the ship, and jam it...

This blows my mind... one of these days, these guys are going to board some whaling ship, and be shot to pieces...

We really do have a modern Day pirate problem...

Here is what we need to do. Round up the whale hunters and the people in political places that support them or turn a blind eye to them (which is the same thing). Dress them up in a loin-cloth and drop them off at the nearest island inhabitted by headhunters. A few days of being hunted may bring them around to thinking it aint as fun when you are at the other end of the stick.

Why cant the Royal Australian Navy and the Australian Customs Service just turn them back at gunpoint if they enter Australian territorial water? And then if they keep trying to renter Australian waters then blow them out of the water.

Its a very simple concept, one nation should not violate the sovereignty of another without due cause ... and looking for whale meat is not a good enough reason.

I can't say I'm particularly happy about this..

Pressure eased on Japan over whaling

THE Federal Government is to ease Australian pressure on Japan over whaling in the Antarctic this summer. The Government has decided against sending the patrol ship Oceanic Viking south again to monitor the whaling fleet, Environment Minister Peter Garrett said yesterday.
