I am really tired of having to drink 18+ beers just to catch a buzz. Not drinking for 6+ months doesnt really help, your tolerance is still there. Is there way of resetting it?

Yes there is......

Grab a pen, and put the tip in your navel. hold it for 2 weeks.

Now you've gave it a hard reset...

It should work.

Tried it myself....

I used to have to drink about 10 drinks, before feeling it. (I was 30 pounds heavier, and I drak a whole lot more often).

I stopped drinking heavy for about 10 months (when I went back to University last year - I lived with family - not big drinkers lol), lost the 30 pounds. THEN I went out for dinner and drinks with some girlfriends in Septmeber, and after 2 drinks I was whoozy...

So...Losing weight, and cutting back for a series of time helped me..

Yea, but I am 5"11 and about 180... I dont think that will help. But is there a medical way for resetting it?

I sometimes work as a drug/alcohol counsellor and yeah stopping for some time will result in you getting drunk quicker, but your body/brain realises whats going on and your tolerance builds up quicker than before.

I had some issues with drugs years ago and i still only get a stone off pain killers and no pain relief, strange thing the human mind.

best advice go to DATs people seem to get very drunk very quick in there lol

Very true Ms. Sugar

Lecter, try a different drink perhaps? Maybe whiskey or scotch. Or drink a higher quality beer such as a import or microbrew.

Your liver is putting out too much alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme in response to regular drinking. The only way to lower it, is to drink less

The key to reseting your tolerance is going to come with a better and more consistent diet, as well as a more updated view on your drinking habits. I had the same question a year ago, and only recently came to understand that the habit of drinking seemed more the problem. When you first start a job you like it given the excitement. But once you become adjusted it tends to lose it's glamour. I know thats a bit of a stretch, but understand that medical science is rethinking/ reworking a lot it terms of medicating. We have found that a vast amount of chemicals can be substituted for a simple mindset change. Now is that to say that you tolerance is all mental... no. But if you haven't had sex in a while and a gorgeous girl approaches you with a sexual interest, what do you think will happen?

Drink just a couple instead of saying you did. Then stop, wait awhile and drink another or two. On the bottle or the can you write in big letters with permanent marker " Stop Drinking!! "

After three hypnotiqs Rush gets a good buzz. I'm small, and don't get out to drink.....often.....enough, I do not drink at home so it doesn't take much for me. When I do get drink I drink to get drunk, like girl's nights out, I like to be far from home and definitely with a driver and reservations downtown so I can enjoy it. I never could understand one drinking every night, like the hubby......couldn't imagine waking up feeling like crap every other morning. Not for me.

And definitely stop by DATS!

Why don't you throw in a couple of shorts or shots inbetween the beers.
I don't really drink ofte4n becasue I find beer/lager, very boring, but when I do drink i'll have a couple of pints, (From the pub) then get on shorts and throw in some nasty shots, surely that will get you tipsy at least.

But if your drinking that much very regularly maybe you could take time off, i'm not preaching, It's just I saw my brother go through some crap with alcohol, he can no longer drink spirits or strong lagers, it messes him up bad, (not in the way he acts, but what his body puts him through for it, at one point he was in early stages of liver disease).

So be careful. Drink sensibly.
