ok, I have been reading many forums on this website for over a year now and one thing seems extremely common to me...many people make outrageous claims without backing them up, or they give very circumstantial evidence that makes their claim seem relevant. (the following statements are from an earlier poster)

[(In Luke 10:18 Jesus states,

“I beheld Satan as Lightning fall from Heaven.”

"How does a Jewish Rabbi, which Jesus is credited with being (John 1:38), say in HEBREW, that Satan is like LIGHTNING from heaven? Barack, also transliterated as Baraq in Hebrew, is LIGHTNING (Strongs Hebrew word
1300))

The entire thread reminded me of the "Bible Code" discussion. It seems that if somebody is looking for something specific, they can always find it. A later poster responded with this.....

"In Arabic, "Barakah" means blessing"

So it seems that from whatever viewpoint, or specifically chosen viewpoint, somebody is looking at these issues from can skew their thinking. And I am tired or reading threads from people that make outrageous claims without backing them up. I have read countless messages about the US being run by the "bildebergers" (who nobody can identify by the way), US concentration camps being set up, martial law being implemented...and the list goes on.

Now if there is actual evidence for any of these claims I would love to hear them. But much of it seems to be taken from the headlines and spun on ATS to get people nervous and thinking about "what if!?"

I will simply end with saying please don't take every headline, or piece of gossip, or crazy imaginary thought and bring it to life in a thread on ATS. It doesn't do anybody any good and only fuels the fire of hatred and unwanted conspiracy theories that this world does not need. Dont get me wrong, I read these forums because I believe that everything is not what it seems, but I don't bring every thought that I have in my own head in front of everyone to start believing and multiplying and ultimately creating for themselves...that is not a healthy course of action. Bring evidence and facts to the table....then we will discuss.

While I'm not trying to disagree with you , I will have to say evidence isn't exactly the easiest thing to come by when your discussing alternative subjects ..... unless your there first hand you can only go by what you hear on tv and what you look up yourself on the internet.

Regardless of who's opinion it is they can tailor the post to fit their agenda regardless of if the information they provide is correct or not - they will cite sources that are completely bias and then if somebody calls them out on it they attempt to use childish banter and off-topic comments to distract from the fact that they pull pretty much everything from their ass.

all you can do is use your best judgment and discretion to discern the best information from the worst , just make sure you keep an 'open' skeptical mind and understand pretty much anything you can imagine I'm sure either is happening or has happened in our universe or other universe's.

the western population has become completely dumbed down and i have a feeling its only going to get worse .........

look on the bright side , we only have to deal with these rejects for 4 more years or so ..... one way or another

(had to throw a doomsd4y prophecy in there)

I agree that the bible quoting, Barack Obama's the anti christ, etc needs to stop.
As for the other things you mentioned:

f you're trying to imply that the Bilderberg Group isn't real you're mistaken. They actually sent out a press release this year. Although it is purely (well-grounded) speculation that they are trying to take over the world, their highly secretive meetings are a violation of the Logan Act.

I don't know about concentration camps but you should research the trailer parks that the government dumped the Katrina victims into, how they're treated and the high security inside of them. Those are pretty close to modern-day concentration camps in my mind.

Martial Law was threatened if congress didn't pass the bailout and our country's leaning towards a police state with each new day. (read this thread)

Fact: Barack Obama is the Anti-Christ!

I swear on my Nuburian grandma from Planet X

Just kidding.. If ATS posts were predicated on "facts" there would be no posts...

Welcome to ATS

Now don't disturb me, Im thumbing through the "good book" looking for links to the coming of the Obama-Christ

I just feel that there are plenty of relevant topics to be discussing on this website, but some of them just seem to discredit the rest.

lets take this past presidential election as an example. Every "questionable" person that Obama came in contact with in the last 10-15 years was brought into the public eye. Could you imagine if he....or McCain, or Palin, or Biden had visited this website and it was made public??? They would have been made a fool of....along with all of us.

I'm just saying lets try to bring relevant points out into the open, and if anybody has a "hunch" or a "feeling" hopefully they will keep it to themselves until they have something intelligent and helpful to say.

I'm not meaning to offend anybody, I want answers just as much as you, I'm just trying to think about the most efficient and effective way to get them.

Yeah biased posters who do not research more than one source really tick me off too. With that being said, I also realize that all ideas no matter how ignorant or brilliant are usually taken into account before the actual truth is found. Without such opposing sides there is little incentive to persevere to the truth. Such crazy ideas and arguments have led us to many discoveries in science. You never would had been able to discount the biblical Jesus quote you mentioned had the poster not posted it. Because you disagreed with him, you took the initiative to do some research and have discounted his idea. In a sense his post helped you arrive closer to the truth. Unfortunately there is little proof regarding many of the subjects here on ats. This forum is a great venue to discuss & discover ideas and experiences that cannot be proven w/o censorship. Sure there are fanatics, fakirs and trolls oh my!! All three may be found in mainstream science today. All I'm saying is you will never find the corn w/o digging through some shi*t.

well you can't have your cake and eat it too, i agree with most of your post except when you say something to the effect of (loose quotes) you agreed that bible quoting needed to stop, but other topics were relevant and what have you. look it's as simple as this:
1.this IS a conspiracy theorist web site. if you (OP) desire topics drenched in hardcore proveable facts, there ARE web forums in existance that cater to that form of discussion; this however, is not one of them. we will ask that you source your outlandish opinions/views/predictions/theologies here, but how you interpret those sources and what you make out of them, is completely up to you.
2.if you don't agree with an outlandish title like "George W. and the Moon Lizards and their secret agenda" (and it will most likely be in all CAPS form) just don't click on it, that's what i do. i'm proud to announce that i have not read anything reptillian related in at least a month, this is no easy task here, because sometimes the title is sneaky; like "What do you think of the newest mars image?" then you click it and are sucked in to a thread about Dubbya's vertical pupils, look it happens, and you CAN ignore it
3.there is absolutely no way to accurately discern that your threads about a coming NWO are any more plausible than someones idea that bible prophecies are coming true, both subjects will try to back their views on factual events or people, but it does not prove either issue. you cannot say there is no room for "this or that" but YOUR topic is okay, matter of fact i thought this was ONE website that i could avoid that on.
4.there is a board to click on that will have you browsing topics more to your liking, try that.
hope i could help.

to be honest, after reading you replies I do agree with you. I guess on a website like this it is not reasonable to think that every post can be based on facts, that is just the nature of the site. And now that it was brought up, it is a great place to read things that I either don't agree with, or don't think are true...and try to find evidence to the contrary to bring out to everyone.

So with that being said I agree with you all that this is not necessarily the venue for bringing out strictly factual threads.

I think what brought this entire idea up was that I came across a thread discussing UFO cases, and the premise was that individuals who want to do true scientific analysis and investigation should separate themselves from those who develop outrageous unwarranted claims, because it hinders the true scientific work. I somewhat agree with that, if we had physicists trying to develop nuclear fusion working alongside alchemists trying to turn lead into gold there may be a bit of a misconception about both groups.

Bottom line...hopefully the truth comes out.
