survival

if this is in the wrong place...my apoligies...if it needs to be moved..just let me kno where i should have posted this....thanks ahead of time..

just out of curosity...are there many people who are prepared to survive a terriost attack close to home, or a nuclear war/accident, or perhaps prepared to survive a biological attack or a severe outbreak of some kind of virus/illness.....

i would like to prepare myself and my family...i figure where i live it is possible for something like that to happen...considering im closer east...im not sure tho...alot of people think im crazy and that things like that wont happen here...but one never knows....would anyone out there know where i could research getting prepared...or at least what i should always have on hand in case the almost impossible happens??
