I'm sure everyone is aware there have been anonymous leaks accusing Palin of spending tons of money on clothing, not knowing basic geography and greeting officials in nothing but a towel...amongst other things.

At first glance you probably say to yourself "That poor innocent woman, she was just doing her best and she gets brutally attacked". For an unknown reason some of the republican party wants her to be a leader in a new republican movement. How will they put her in the spotlight and gain the American peoples sympathy and support for Palin?

Simple, they release anonymous unsubstantiated attacks on her and the lasting impression on the American people will be "that poor woman". Time will forget the attacks but the American people will remember the feeling of compassion and sympathy for the woman.

On first thought you think the republican party is trying to destroy this poor beautiful innocent woman but really they are worrying about 2012 and trying to turn the American people.

Is the republican party and Palin engaged in a dishonest attempt to gain sympathy by releasing these "anonymous" leaks?

It's not like the Republican party will take the blame I mean the accusations came from some autonomous individual.

Just goes to show how far the Democrats will go,they speak of how they are for poor people etc, when in fact they are ruthless when it comes to a campaign, and never let the truth get in the way of a good story,2 faced people

the attacks are coming from within her own campaign and republican party. perhaps you should reread the post. it sounds like your "bash the democrats programming" is stuck on autopilot. the republicans sound like they are engaging in a preemptive strike on mrs. palin to get a head start on any plans she has in 2012.

Wow. Nice conspiracy theory! You might be right!

I've even been feeling pretty sorry for her lately. It will be interesting to see where her political career goes over the next few years.

Either they have her in mind for 2012 and are going for the sympathy OR they have someone else in mind and want to tarnish her to make people think she's stupid and she won't have a chance... Or it's true...

heather65: "sounds like your "bash the democrats programming" is stuck on autopilot" That's funny!

As someone pointed out earlier, it's not the democrats. Most attacks on Palin haven't been from the democrats.

That being said, I immensely dislike Palin. However, the recent attacks on her have been unfair. The clothing attacks for instance... stupid. The attack on her saying she didn't know Africa was a continent... stupid (though good payback for those who attacked Obama on his comment about how many states were in the US).

Everyone makes verbal gaffs. It happens. The election is over, and the mudslinging continues.

On a positive note, I am pretty sure Rush Limbaugh will spontaneously combust on Inauguration Day.

The election is over, it's time to let it go don't ya think? whatever the reason for all the pre-election antics, I'm certain eventually it will all come out, so many people involved, I bet there will be behind the scene books coming soon enough.

What gets me is, Americans are always screaming about Democracy and the Democratic process, there was an election, run to the rules laid down under your constitution, yet because it didn't go the way some people wanted, we seem to never hear the end of it? now we have the start of a set up apparently leading towards 2012 election.

Arrrgghhh ! will this ever stop?

Its called sour grapes, Obama isn't even President yet, just President elect, yet he is being accused of everything that is happening in Washington DC.

George Bush is still President, so everything that happens until Obama is sworn in, is still down to Bush, and correct me if I'm wrong, America still has a republican Government? therefore it is still the Republicans who are responsible for the day to day decisions, so why are people blaming Obama?

As for Palin, I thought she was used as a patsy, and is still being used as one it seems, I don't think I will ever see American Politics the same again.

IMO the republicans knew they couldn't win, thats why the whole campaign was run as a farce, now it seems they are going to blame Palin for their loss, let me remind you, McCain chose her, he supported her, he used her in his hate campaign against Obama with all the terrorist crap, are the republicans the only people who cant see this?

I understand to some extent, devout republicans IMO, are like a mother who's child has been accused of doing something bad, the mother will defend them, never seeing bad, until they are shown undeniable proof, don't fall with them, support them, but you must take out the rotten apples, only then will the respect lost will return.

Sure Obama may turn out to be a terrible President, but he has to be given the opportunity to try and do what the people of America think he can do as President, something good for a change.

Your current President, has done nothing but harm to America and the World, he is a republican, so what did you expect the American people to do?

Remove your rotten apples, that is the only way forward, don't turn the next 4 yrs into another McCain campaign, because in 4 yrs the same thing will happen again, I promise you.

America right now is still a republican run country, and all that happens from now until January, is still down to Bush, a republican, all the democrat flaming is doing is hurting your own cause, just like McCain did.

Did you read the OP? I think it's kind of an interesting conspiracy theory.

Especially since I heard a report this morning that Republicans polled chose Sarah Palin as their pick for 2012. The results were something like:

Palin 64%
Romney and Huckabee were 11 and 12%
Jindal 7%

Source

I was amazed that so many people would STILL choose Palin. Sympathy, perhaps?

I think you hit it on the head BH. People are just reading the thread title on the recent posts page and just posting their initial thoughts without reading the opening post.

Now this is a very interesting conspiracy theory. If it is true, then it is a terrible strategy. They may say there's no such thing as bad publicity but in another thread I was reading today about a poll taken of Obama voters, more of them knew more about Palin's scandals than they did about Obama's policies and plans.

It's an interesting way to look at things but, in my opinion, what seems more likely is that the Republican party is using Palin as a scapegoat for losing the election. In other words, 'The republicans are still incredibly awesome and the picture of perfection. We would have had it in the bag if it weren't for that silly woman and all her foibles.'

I don't know how else to look at it due to the fact the conservative media generally went from being 'Rah! Rah! Palin!' to jumping on the Palin criticizing bandwagon after the election (at least that is how it appeared to me- anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). It makes it appear she is being used as the fall guy.

do you remember the inevitables? You know... Guliani, Clinton, Romney, edwards?

If anything iv learned not to count my chickens before they hatch.

Palin 2012? Nobody here can say she will even get the nomination let alone run.

Agreed. Nobody will know what will happen 4 years from now, the party could end up with a relative unknown coming out of nowhere much like Obama did.

I also find it interesting that while discussing this conspiracy theory, you can all be so positive that these attacks could not have come from the Democrats. I'm not sure how any of you can be so sure without having any evidence to suggest otherwise.

It could have been either party, or both for all we know. But to accuse others of partisanship in regards to this issue while at the same time disregarding the possibility that your own party could be responsible is silly.

Oh no. I hate getting into it with friends.

I can't speak for anyone else on this thread but you said 'all,' so:

1). I'm not 'positive' of anything and emphasized it was my own personal opinion.
2). I'm not disregarding the possibility that my 'own party could be responsible' because.... I am a republican. Just one who happens to be very disappointed with her party at the moment.

Ahhh...there I go again with my "alls" and "everyones"

Should have specified that "some" here refused to acknowledge that.

You make some excellent points.
