I was very disappointed to hear about this. I really like the show. I will admit that I'm not going out of my way to watch it like I used to do, but it is still set up to record each time there's a new one.

I do hope that he goes on to do more shows about survival or even just about the outdoors. I like him as a host.

I will be sorry to see him go but I can understand his position completely.

There was always one main reason that I preferred his show to Bear's. Stay dry. If you know anything about survival the worst thing you can do is get wet. Not just in the cold either. Warm weather can encourage fungus and infections.

The first thing Les does is try to find or build some type of shelter. Even before fire.

The first thing Bear does is find some freezing mountain stream and jump in. Well second actually. Right after he jumps out of the plane or scales some cliff.

I mean, I do that stuff all the time.

I agree, I'd love to see survival in the URBAN JUNGLE, that might be really good information to know. If was homeless I wouldn't last a week with out stealing or shoplifting. I'd love to see how to survive without ending up dead or in jail.lol

This sucks! I love that guy!

Looks like we'll just have to get 'em on DVD and watch re-runs

You are dead on with this. If anyone was really stuck in the places he goes and they did the things he does, they would never make it out alive.

He's always running down a steep hill or jumping into freezing water.

The show was entertaining, but I think that it is less survival than you might be led to believe. It is entertainment folks.

He is not randomly dropped in some unknown location--he does extensive research prior to filming a location--including visiting the area in advance.

Every plant, animal, water element that is in play is researched--he knows exactly what he is going to do, what he is going to film, and basically has a specific plan in advance of being dropped off--including what "random" piece of equipment he is left with.

If his producers grabbed him, blind folded him, and dumped him somewhere without telling him what was going on, yeah, then it might be a bit more impressive.

Don't get me wrong--he has survival skills, but this show has detailed planning in advance.

I've always loved survivorman. It's much more realistic than Man vs Wild. Les always kept in mind that the average person cant scale down mountains or other crazy things that make me laugh. I love the outdoors and have been in the forests of Oregon many times since I was little, and I enjoy hunting and fishing as well. While I'm not the most graceful person on the earth...Okay okay so I'm known as a klutz. So, when I see Bear scaling down steep inclines, I usually remark, "Hah, I'd be the person they see sliding down and killing themselves."

I truly am sorry to see this show go, and I hope someday there's someone who will carry on Les's legend. Hopefully without camera crews and all that.
