Not sure about these RFID things, cant imagine why they couldnt implement a bio-cell design, be it a good or bad thing.

They were talking about this on modern Marvels today. it was pretty interesting.
As for the name... according to babel fish it translates to Van. It's French.

La: the feminine singular definite article in several Romance languages, including Spanish, French, and Italian. In English, prefixed to a woman's name, ironically as if to that of a prima donna.

According to Wiki. So... it's a girl Van.
No. I don't think it means the devil. Yeesh.
