Obama lied? Implications of Hawaiian BC, differing reports

I'm looking at two different articles that seem to to be trying to convey extremely different ideas...about what seems to be the same event.

The first article which indicates that a Dr. Chiyome Fukino, of Hawaii's depertment of health, confirmed the existence of Senator Obama's original Hawaiian birth certificate.

...and then we have...

The second article which menions a Dr. Fukino...

...confirming my factual allegation that there was/is an original, typewritten 1961 'vault' COLB that has not been made public and that the true 'original' COLB is in official files.

From what I gather, while it's been widely reported that the Health Department of Hawaii confirmed the existence of Obama's Hawaiian birth certificate, if the second article is to be believed, they have also confirmed that the birth certificate that has been previously released by Obama's campaign is not the version that they have on record.

Now...to be fair, it should be mentioned that so far as I can tell, the source of the second article is Andy Martin. The columnist is writing an article on the results of his own lawsuit. This brings in all sorts of questions of bias. The article itself reads like a self-promotion gimmick and at the end the author refers to himself as a "national anti-Obama leader." So, again, the source is questionable, even though it's being picked up by various news outlets.

If you read the details in the first article, it states that:

I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i...have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record

So they have it. It exists. But...they did NOT release it. And they did NOT say what it says. Just that it *exists*. The simple fact of a birth certificate is not enough to demonstrate US citizenship.

Also, just to be thorough, I'll mention Obama made a personal trip to Hawaii last week, and was there for only 22 hours. Doesn't necessarily mean anything. Can't expect a presidential candidate to stay for days just for a family visit. But...less than two weeks from voting day...it does seem a bit odd that he'd take the time just to visit a sick grandmother, and this article specifically states that:

He did not issue any statement and did not speak to journalists

...which seems slightly odd to me.

So, in light of all the above I have two questions:

1) How do we feel about the fact that birth certificate we were led to believe was real....wasn't? The reality is that candidates themselves probably don't handle these things. It's probably not fair to claim that Obama personally lied. He wouldn't have personally given out the fake copy, and he probably didn't personally assure anyone that it was legitimite. But again...on the surface there will definitely be people concluded that Obama lied. How do we feel about that?

2) WHY would they do this? Even if Obama himself had no knowledge, WHY would he or his campaign managers or anyone else go to such lengths to provide a copy that wasn't legitimite?

Is there maybe something on the birth certificate we haven't seen that they don't want us to see?

Basically, its like this.
I)he lies, he's really linked to iraq / terrorists and the US is boned harder than Jenna Jameson.
II)he lies, turns out he's not that bad, Happy ending.
III)he didnt lie and it turns out he's not that bad.
IV) he didnt lie and he's a slave driver. removes our rights somehow and again, boned harder than [insert favorite porn star here]

havent you already connected the dots for yourself?
if he did lie it means that he was born out of the US or something worse that goes against the laws / rules of becoming the president.
