At midnight on November 1, three Russian TV channels were removed from cable networks in Ukraine, including an RTR-Planet station (RTR-Planet is the overseas wing of Russian state broadcaster RTR).

Operators said the ban came into effect after the National Council on TV and Radio Broadcasting warned that all foreign channels must be adapted to comply with Ukrainian law or face being taken off air.

Seems this is Ukraine way saying, back off Russia. We don't want you anymore. Wonder what Russia will say about this.
I can see the Russian president making a short speech about this sometime later. But, this shows things between Russia and the Ex-soviet country Ukraine are heating up. Just a little bit at a time

It was Ukrainian president who done it, shouldn't Ukrainian parliament may be has a vote whether have or not Russian channels, why ban them? when ever second citizen in Ukraine speaks Russian, this is why so many starting to HATE Yushenko for his idiotic actions, I was raised in Odessa, Ukraine, where majority speak Russian and we just don't like when president unfairly just decided to ban Russians channels, just because he doesn't like Russia. This is guarantee that he is gone after this term. Southern Ukraine really sick of him.

Just some background on what is going on in Ukraine. Pro-Western President Yuschenko has driven the country's economy and politics into the ground and there is now a political crisis. He dismissed Parliament in an attempt to get rid of all opposition, and the country is now completely deadlocked. The courts stated that his actions were illegal, and he dismissed the courts as well. Now only about 6% of Ukraine's population approve of his actions, and the rest want him gone immediately. Yuschenko and his arrogant pro-western nationalism has failed.

Now that Parliament is being elected again, he is trying to repress and intimidate all opposition, including the pro-Russian 'Party of the Regions'. He shut down the TV channels in an effort to control the population and prevent any opposition from stating their criticism.

No - Ukraine is not saying anything of the sort. This is Yuschenko's decree, and at this point he represents about 6% of Ukraine. These are the lowest approval rating for any European President ever recorded.

They don't need to say anything. Yuschenko is not getting reelected - that is certain. Russia is siding with his opposition - including Yanukovich and Timoshenko - the two primary most popular Parliamentarians and future candidates for President.

Nope. Medvedev is choosing to stay quiet on the issue, and will continue to do so. No need to interfere - Yuschenko is digging his own political grave.

Actually relations are improving. Yuschenko is only Ukrainian politician who is opposed to Russia. And his time in power is running out. He will be replaced by either Timoshenko or Yanukovich - both of whom have good relations with Russia and aim to improve ties.
