This is where the greed comes into the free market equation

Greed comes into any economic equation. It is human nature. We have seen though, that capitalism (at least the milder form practiced) deals with this greed better than any of the other economic systems.

Also in a free market with NO government that you describe our rivers and waters would be polluted to the max. Our food we eat would be crap. This is how it used to be till Teddy Roosevelt came into office in the early 20th century. He passed the laws that helps to clean our water both drinking and non drinking. He made companies clean up their act in regards with food. The free market did not do this before.

I agree. Governments should protect the consumer and regulate things according to law (like no slavery of workers, decent working environments, FDA). I don't think anybody would disagree with you.

You sound more like Chicago School Libertarian, because they believe in market self-restraint, as the market's purpose it to thrive for the good of society. We also believe that the government can be beneficial, but isn't always. Things such as infrastructure, regulations that are ethical...like the FDA and state (not federal) ran Education can benefit the society...however government intrusion into the marketplace as to limit competition, or control variables that contribute to economic activities is frowned upon.

Ok so give me a better break down of the differences because what I read on wiki I dont see a huge difference in Chicago school and Austrian school theories. Maybe I am missing something. It seems to me Milton Friedman was more Austrian than Chicago....grrr...hellllpppppp

From my readings of your opinions you strike me as a generally conservative Libertarian.

Small government

Little interfering by the Government

Larger state rights then Federal

Free Market

Quite in line with the way I believe, though no two Humans could believe the same thing..

The differences between us and our ideologies is the personal consciousness that cannot be labeled.

I don't think I have ever read a post where you came off as a Socialist or a Communist. Quite the opposite honestly.

Well I am for little government involvement. But something has to be done about the pay system. This is where I might sound socialistic so be ready. Im not saying spread the wealth but Im saying quit taking from the poor and giving to the rich and vise versa. But right now big execs dont pay like they should. I feel that if you put in an honest full days work you get a full days pay and anymore you dont get that. You get the execs on the golf course taking money from the people putting in the full days work. To me this is not fair. The free market is not fixing this issue and it has implications not only on the economy but in society. Now I dont believe in limiting exec pay by all means but I think I am for a proportional type of pay. If you are an exec you can only make lets say 100 times what your average employee makes. If your average employee makes 50k a year then you can make 5 million a year. If you want to make more money than pay your peeps more. If the average pay is 75k then you can pay yourself 7.5 million. 100x doesnt have to be the number but right now the average fortune 500 exec makes 600 times their average employee. This is not good and its not fair. Especially seeing how a lot of these guys are running their business in the ground. That is the one socialistic bone in me. If someone can come up with another free market way to fix this issue please throw it at me.

If the Free Market worked like it should, without Socialistic practices or Fascist practices, the Execs would loose their jobs and someone else, more competitive would step in.

Take GM... they gave America a inferior product, over charged, and got beat by foreign car makers with better quality products at a competitive price.

So they loose money..

At the same time.. because people who believe the "little guy" deserves his McMansion, a guy riveting a car door is making $50 an hour when he REALLY should be making maybe $18 an hour..

And instead of letting these damn dinosaurs go out of business, the Fascist will prop up the system because they feel "it will help us' ..

In a free market, the employees demanding to much and the execs being rewarded for their inferior product all would have lost their jobs.

And rightly so.

I agree in the perfect world the gap form rich to poor should be low.. but this is not the perfect World, so I say in the World we have we make it as fair as possible.. by keeping it a Free Market.

Not asking for a perfect world. I know that income inequalities like we have cannot sustain itself. Image if ALL companies paid like the fortune 500 companies do. If ALL execs made 600x their employees. Im glad some companies believe in the better good but I feel that a lot does not. I agree on the GM but those same GM execs have made a mint. The same people who say well the shareholders have power to do something well they dont otherwise it would be done. Once in awhile you get an activist like Carl Ichan but there are not to many of him around. I am for a market with no government but now with all the bailouts, tax breaks, money creation, and competition limiting our market is far from free and really needs a kick in the a$$.

Don't like what a companies exec gets paid?

Don't buy their products. I will never buy an "American" car.. I have started a life long boycot due to them having the audacity to ask the Government for help. I will tell anyone who listens, boycott the bastards!

Don't like what the banks are doing?

JOIN A CREDIT UNION.. where you own the bank!

Many alternatives.. we with the money.. the consumer.. we have the power, not the CEO's.

To those 3 consecutive posts.

I have to admit, the first time I heard about Austrian economics was 2 days ago when I first came across Peter Schiff (I suggest to anyone to watch any of appearances or listen to his radio interviews.). I finally found out who the picture is of in your avatar. Let me just say this that I wish I had not made that one thread you posted in on the bailout, because as they say I have some serious egg over my face. I was incredibly wrong. I had very little faith in the government but thought ignorantly that they could actually fix the problem, instead of prolonging it and making it worse. But at the same time I'm glad you did post there because it opened me up alot more material that I otherwise would have ignorantly left unread. So thank you.
