Hey all,

This is really sad, but my dad lost his job and is having a real tough time. He is selling his car which is paid off to his friend for 14,000 and needs to buy something cheap...really cheap. He is looking in the $2000 range and we found two cars.

Both are super clean and I want to know what you guys would buy.

a 1993 infiniti G20 with 94,000 miles on it.

or a 1998 Monte carlo with 133,000 miles.

Both are running perfectly now and seem to have no problems.

Which would you guys buy?

Please help!

My suggestion would be to buy a used high mileage Ford Crown Vic.
All the cabs, cops, mibs, use them and they can last forever.
Easy to maintain, no complicated engines.
The only downside is that they're not that economic with fuel.

If these two are your choices, I suggest doing a google search of possible problems that have arisen for the owners of both vehicles over the years.
The price may be a good deal, but not if three months down the road you have to sink the money into a major repair.
Personally, I would opt for the 98.
More mileage, BUT, better quality vehicle all around if maintained properly, and obviously, newer, so would hopefully last longer.
Any chance of getting the info as to previous owners since the car was bought new for a complete history?
How much of that mileage was in town and how much was highway driving?
Get as many records of all maintenance done by previous owners, as well as any warranty to that work that may exist.

Good Luck!
