Ive just been noticing recently that Media, which was once the bane of UFO study seems to have shifted significantly in recent times.

Not only are we seeing more and more UFO based stories in mainstream news and papers, just this week and last we had more in the UK press than probably the last two years preceding it. Whats more interesting is the lack of snide comments?

Normally anything that appeared in mainstream media was preceded by a sneering presenter or a smug derrogatory comment, or followed by one. Also with written press you would generally find some disparaging reference designed to make a mockery of the story.

Is it just me or mainstream media actually treating the subject with a shred more dignity and giving it far more attention than they ever have done before?

Ive heard the rumours that "disclosure policy" is on the agenda right now and gradual disclosure is being pushed> We are seeing more and more sightings, more and more talk of the subject and its being supported with more and more media respect. Does make you wonder really whether some kind of slowly slowly acceptance agenda is being pushed.

Im not making any claims of consipiracy or anythign here although thats one possiblitity. May just be that governments and military are realising that the subject is going to become an issue in the years ahead and maybe its time the population were slowly pushed towards the idea of not being alone, so if anything does happen we dont run wild with panic.

Thoughts people?

I still notice a tongue in cheek delivery of any ufo related stories. Albeit mostly by local stations. Until they stop playing X-Files music I won't give them any real kudos.

maybe its the source lately. MOD files hold more weight than a wide eyed madman in a tinfoil hat screaming conspiracy is here! Its hard to have a giggle when the source is a faceless government department, and the files highlight aircraft carrier size UFO's seconds away from a shootout with an F86.

Im not so sure, I mean the BBC, CNN, The Sun, Daily Mail and numerous others in the last two weeks have actually given pretty open stories on the subject.

Once upon a time there seemd to be an agenda of mockery going on but now everyone, yes including the MOD and others are starting to offer a more serious perspective, its quite a refreshing change.

It could be that with so many people having cameras of good quality now and so many sightings happening the perspective is shifting towards something thats harder and harder just to laugh off.

Maybe people are starting to become curious now who werent before and with the stigma wiped away, its possible that some seious consideration and understanding could replace it in time.

I just notice a lot more mainstream attention now than ever before which is good to see if a little unexpected.

i agree that a lot of tongue in cheek sort of reporting is being used. but the whole "i was ordered to shoot down a ufo over england" thing has just taken over the MSM here in Australia. BBC World Radio conducted an interview with the retired pilot in question and for what it's worth - the interview was on during the main world briefing news and was repeated several times during the day.

I did not hear a hint of a sneer or a snicker from the interviewer. It was conducted with the air of someone interviewing an older war vetran.

I suspect there is something truly strange in the air (no pun intended) with all this talk of ufo's becoming more commonplace. It seems like there is a new story every week on the media which disturbs me.

Also, it's interesting to note that the whole ufo thing is being unravelled whilst we are facing a giant global recession, and the most powerful nation on earth is looking to undergo a regime change of sorts, iceland as a nation is on the brink of collapse (normally this would be the newsworthy material that would be covered constantly), and russia is itching to flex its muscles and show the world that it is truly back in the spotlight.

.... it just makes me wonder whether we are being side tracked whilst the real story is being hushed up.

Thats an interesting idea. Myself I was thinking about all the conspiracy theories and coverups and one thing got me thinking. I dont recall where I read it but I was reading about the first testing of the Stealth Fighter being back in the 70s and how they had managed to keep that plane under wraps for so long.

It was also suggested that if the Stealth Fighter was now in the open, it probably meant that they have another super secret prototype now which is why the Stealth Plane no longer needs to be under wraps, its old hat.

Now with all the cameras and footage it must be harder and harder to truly keep them secret. Although any photos of them in test flights ect wouldnt be believed now, im sure when the craft did come out in the open people would add 2+2 and point to all the photos.

Maybe they do have a new craft, maybe they are concerned that in the years ahead they might need to bring that technology forward and face all the questions of conspiracy and technology coverups head on when they did.

If people were desensitized enough and maybe a couple of years down the line a "UFO crash" event happened, wouldnt it be the perfect opportunity to say "hey look what we found" and then make a bunch of "breakthroughs" in technology in the coming year. At which time they could launch the super secret planes and nobody would suspect a thing.

For an extreme example, if trouble broke out with Russia, USA wouldnt be able to just produce a fleet of man made UFOs from their bum right now because they would face a storm of questons and accusations from every angle. Im sure it would be preferrable if that climate changed and they were in a position to use any secret craft they have openly if the need arose.

I do agree though, definately seems to be a major shift from mockery toward almost a will to help people believe and accept these things.

I noticed the report to shoot down an UFO 50 years ago was reported with sincerety and respect on Fox and Friends this week. However, when Dr Mitchell was on the same program a few months ago talking about UFO's. Steve Doocey was sneering and being extremely disrespectful, even refering to Dr Mitchell by his first name.
I work with people who are MD's and PhD's. When I am in a professional situation I refer to them by their title, even though I use their first names when we are in social situations.
I have to say that Gretchen and Kilmeade were very respectful during the interview. Doocey was just trying to be cute and not succeding.

that's not a bad theory either. Either way, the UFO thing seems to have happened at such a 'convenient' time. Something that entrances the interests of the public to keep them from the real story whether that be instilling new policies and gov related stuff (whatever it may be) or planting convenient crashes to keep militiary secrets.

Whatever it is behind the recent MSM and gov view openness about ufo's - its there to conceal something big.

It certainly does make you wonder. Most of the world wont even notice if it is going on, they will just wake one morning and take UFOs seriously as if its the most normal thing in the world. I think those who were interested before will be kind of scratching their heads and wondering whats going on though.
