I hear so many people on ATS talking about martial law and how our nation is slowly becoming a police state. I usually don't touch that subject
because I just don't see it happening. So I wanted to tell you all my story from today and why I don't see it happening.
I went to an Obama rally here in Kansas City today. News reports estimate the crowd to be over 40,000. On the way in there were only 5 protesters
and they were those crazies that believe our soldiers are dying in Iraq because God hates gay people. I was in a bit of a rowdy mood when I saw these
folks so I got up close to them and started shouting that they need to read their bible because it clearly states that Jesus forgives and they need to
take this hate filled protest somewhere else. I was getting cheers from people who saw this exchange. All this took place with police officers
standing right there. I was not harrassed or thrown in jail for shouting my point of view.
On to the rally now, I saw a few more police officers at the entrance to the Liberty Memorial, but that was it. Once in the main rally area I had to
use the restroom, but there were only 10 port a potties and about 1,000 people waiting in line to use them. So I ask this man who appeared to be a
rent a cop if I could go over this little orange plastic fence to get to the other bathrooms outside of the main rally area. He was rather rude and
said no. I said come on man, I'm not trying to sneak in, I WANT OUT. Still no. So me and my big mouth said, what's your problem rent a cop, whose
your boss, Micky Mouse or Bullwinkle? He just ignored me. Found out later he was United States Secret Service!
But still, I was not thrown
to the ground or arrested for mouthing off, to the secret service no less!
Now the rally starts, there are 40,000+ people at this rally and guess what? No fights, no people being hauled off to jail, save for the secret
service you would be hard pressed to find that many KCPD officers there. I did see two snipers on top of a near by building though.
Leaving the rally everyone was peacful, hope filled and in a generally happy mood. Police that were there spent their time helping people get out of
the rally and directing traffic, not shouting and screaming at us and trying to take away our rights.
The point of this thread is to illistrate how I feel regarding this martial law/police state conspiracy. I don't see it happening. Not in Kansas
City anyway. God I love my city!
On a side note, there were no McCain/Palin supporters protesting, that I saw anyway, at the rally, I was a little surprised by this as Missouri is
traditionally a red state. I guess they knew better not to mess with 40,000 Obama supporters.
P.S.
I took a repulican with me. I don't think Obama swayed his vote, but you gotta love a guy who will take his date to an Obama rally even though he's
supporting McCain.
