Do you consider ATS a valid source of info?

. The fact is that by not providing proof you are contributing to the disinfo.
I agree totally ExistenceUnknown, we are in the age of information and everyone with a cell phone can take a photograph now.

@ nj2day - I agree totally about Ockham's Razor. People are basically simple and rarely go out of our way to make things more amazing than they really are.

@ Maxmars - Strong words, I suppose your right, and I guess the struggle for true information exists anywhere you go. Too bad we don't have a system in place to let people with first hand knowledge somehow be anonymous while retaining their credibility.. quite a pickle..

There are clearly people on ATS who sensationalize and sometimes just outright fabricate things.
I agree, and that's the problem, some people are obvious when they fabricate things, but there's many who just subtly spice things up in a way that makes you say, "hmmm maybe?"

@hinky - True that, nobody could ever accuse ATS of not being absolutely fascinating.

In regards to the question in the title, ATS is one of the most valid sources of info on the net. It is not up to the original poster to provide proof of anything. There is no such thing as "burden for proof". It is up to the reader to determine the truth for themself. After all, you're the only one in control of your thoughts. Disinformation is rampant so it's the only option.
I have to respectfully disagree, true that not everything has evidence lying around but a story without proof belongs in the fiction section. Even the most unbelievable story should always have some verifiable facts such as records of concrete orders for bases or locations of crashes where one should be able to visit the area. Nothing happens without evidence, every test plane crash in USAF history has left pieces of wreckage long after even the most through cleanups. The truth may be every bit as sensational as the poster claims, but I really feel in the year 2008 there's no excuse to not have some form of proof.

I agree with regard to the 10/14/08 situation. I of course am a skeptic at heart but presented properly it gets your hopes up and I would really love to be wrong in my view of the world. And as ExistenceUnknown said, a lot of people got their hopes up and ended up disappointed. Its really just unfair to everyone.

Maybe you should search around some of the older threads there is a lot of interesting stuff there, but so much gets posted here that it just becomes information overload.

Back when I first joined, threads that were say over a hundred posts were quite rare these days in a matter of a day a thread can reach over 200 and there are plenty of them. You have to sift through them which I do occasionally.

I agree that a lot of stuff gets turned over and over again here. I see posts pop up about subjects that were discussed years ago and which came to reasonable conclusions even proved as hoax, but those threads are just lost in time.

Anyway yes there is a lot of excellent information on ats if you research and verify it for yourself. The truth is here its just distorted, keep reading and researching and you will see the pattern. Personally I don’t like the suggested truth, it’s as scary as hell.

Proof. Yeah right. It really is up to you to decide. I still really rate my ats for all its crazyness, there is no where else like it.

I consider this website to be, on the whole, a great place for information. There are, at times, individuals who report something in which there is no basis in fact. This is a rarity, though, that is frowned upon by most members of this website. I have learned a lot and have provided some input when and where appropriate.
