OK Skunks: When was the last time you saw a chicken soaring high above your head?

I sure hope i get a cupcake or a doughnut or something for this...

Chickens are instilled with fight. wouldn't you be after 500 years of "domestication?"

all im saying is life is easy this day and age is; hungry? go down the street or open the fridge. Bored? interweb/TV/Music. cold/hot? change the AC.

we have it pretty easy. a person who camps outdoors every now and then is 100 times more likely to survive than the average joe after a week without power.

Actually the theory holds that all birds started out flightless... so it's the guys that can fly that are the odd ones.

There are plenty of birds that don't fly and get on just fine.

Most birds can run fast enough to get away from a predator, can jump quite far (some can even run up trees) and reach the ground to peck bugs, grain, or fruit, so flying is just a plus, I guess raptors would be the exception.

if thats the case why did they get wings on the first place?

now nimble fingers that dance on numbers
will eat your children and steal your thunder,
while heavy torsos that heave and hurl
who crunch like nuts in the mouths of squirrels

now clever feet that flicker like fire

do more to turn my joy to sadness
than somber thoughts of burning planets

Can any of those Channelers out there talk to animals? cause id like to get a chickens opinion on the subject at hand.

I have chickens and mine fly. Mine are Banties that I have basically let return to their wild original form. The others you are talking about have been selectively bred to be heavy so the weight to lift ratio for flight comes into play. Large chickens cant fly for this reason . I had some domestic ducks same thing but you've probably seen wild ducks ,they are world class flyers.

well said. star for you. chickens have been domesticated for a long time giving man ample opportunity to breed the ability of flight out of them.
