As a Conservative, I'm glad that it's crumbling.

The reason I'm glad is because the Republican party has been taken over by the out of control base who just wants fear and smear.

I supported Mitt Romney STRONGLY during the primaries and I was right that the Republican party made a mistake with McCain.

Romney should have been the nominee but BIGOTRY from people like Huckabee stopped him.

Romney is an economic whiz and maybe even McCain would have been his V.P. A Romney/McCain ticket would look alot better than McCain/Palin right now.

McCain then picks Palin which was a horrible choice. I'm sure she's a good politician and she will have a future in politics if she formulates a world view. But at this point she isn't ready and McCain showed bad judgement. I told people who got all excited at the convention that it will not last.

Lastly, Bush is a BIG borrow and spend politician and he has us 10 trillion in the hole. He did nothing to control spending.

The Republican party is the party of mooseburgers and bar-b-que. David Brooks was right.

I agree on the consensus that a McCain/Romney (vice versa) ticket would have been good, in fact a sure win.

I must say though, don't count McCain out yet. According to the polls ive seen there are a lot of undecideds out there and any little event can put McCain back on top in time for Nov 4.

I'm glad they are starting to crumble as well.
Now if we could just get the democrats and all the other parties to crumble as well, we might be off to a good start.

What gets me, is that these Republicans even have the balls to tell us they are "Conservatives" ??! No. Bush got in with false promises, or rigged voting, whatever you wanna say.
What he promised, and what he gave us are two different things. Even Bush supporters should see this, and be able to admit that Bush was wrong, and step away.

Amazing, people vote for people like Bush or McLame, thinking they are getting a "Conservative" because that's what FOX told them. Makes me think most people don't even know what Conservative means.

Thank you for this thread.

You are dead on. I keep making the mistake of referring to the 'conservative' party when posting on political topics. The thing is, many of the new republicans are FAR from conservative. Especially this administration. Not one conservative thing about them.

If the republican party does crumble I hope it shatters into multiple faucets. We need a 4 or 5 party system to try and keep things from becoming the same. What I mean by that is that the dems and repubs are virtually the same machine right now. No change.

I think both parties are having trouble finding their true identity. Do you honestly think, Pelosi, Reid, and Obama reflect the true values of the Democrat party? I agree with people who say that Bush is not a true Republican.

Yeah there is nothing conservative about what the Republican party is today. Ron Paul is probably the only real conservative left in the party.

I have to agree with beforetime as well. I think the Republican party is far from crumbling.. but it would be nice if they would

The New Republican party is the old Democrat party!
And
The New Democrat party is the old Socialist party!

We are in for more very rough times I think! If only we would all stop voting party lines then and only then will we have a chance to get our country back!
