LONDON (AP) -- Ringo Starr doesn't want to hear from you. If you do write, your letter will end up in the trash. That's the message from Richard Starkey, aka Ringo Starr. After 45 years of stardom, he doesn't want to spend any more time answering mail or sending signed photos back to fans. The fan fatigue led the former Beatles drummer to post a sometimes angry sounding short video clip on his Web site telling fans that any mail sent to him after Oct. 20 will not be read or answered. British television stations broadcast the video today.

I don't get it. Are his fans holding him hostage with letters? Why does he presume he has to tell his fans that he will not reply back? Are they bombarding him with mail that says something like "Ohhh Ringo, why haven't you written back to me?", and he just cannot stand it anymore?
The more I think about this, the more it disturbs me. Why doesn't he just not say a word and ignore his fans? Is mail that intrusive into his personal life?

Can't say I blame him, he's given us all some great music, we can respond by granting him some peace and privacy.

maybe no one is writing him and he's trying to use reverse psychology on people
really though, he's had a good run and i'm sure he's just wanting to kick back and have some peace and quiet without the worries of fan mail, etc
