biologists and plastic surgeons from the university of pennsylvania have found a gene mutation that caused smaller, weaker jaws. they say it occurred
in some primates around 2.4 billion years ago.
this estimation links with the time that fossil records show some evidence of evolution of the jaw area, and also increased brain size in primates.

skeptics say that evolution couldn't have taken place as the result of a mutation like this, that it "goes against the fundamentals of
evolution"
i am inclined to agree with the skeptics on this one, but im not educated enough in this field to say for sure.
