I have seen a lot of unusual activty out to sea over the last few years here in Sydney, although it's usually too far away to get any decent movie
shots.
Here's an attempt I made back in '04 lying on the sand at Palm Beach using a telescope/tripod attached to the front of my Hitachi DV camera. I guess
the magnification would be around 2000mm....

does not appear to have wings or tail section...chris
Interesting. With the dump (I understand the RAAF pilots call it a "zippo"), the fuel doesn't ignite until it's a few meters behind the plane.
Perhaps due to the brightness of the flame and the distance from the camera, the aircraft fades into the darkness. In the video I linked the action
is a lot closer than in yours.
