Christopher Columbus's UFO sighting on October 11, 1492, while still sailing on the Atlantic Ocean:

Christopher Columbus, while on the Santa María in the Atlantic Ocean, saw "a light glimmering at a great distance." It disappeared and reappeared several times during the night.
