Odd book I received through the mail

I received a book in the mail today and was a more than a little disturbed. What disturbs me is not the content of the book but rather why it was sent to me, as opposed to say someone who asked for the book.

The book is titled "Let My People Go!: The Struggle of the American Jew to Come Home to Israel", the author is Tom Hess.

From glancing at it quickly, it has a bunch of prophecies tied into passages from the Bible and Tanach. And how to help Jews in America how to best worship God and return to Israel. All the while discussing strategies to stugge against increasing anti-semitism.

I've never heard of Progressive Vision International before. I'm not Jewish, I was raised a Christian but have not followed any religion for a number of years. I don't subscribe to any other publications or magazines and purposely removed my name from junk mail lists. Although I still do get about 2 pieces of junk mail each week.

What I can't figure out is if its just a random thing? Is it just junk mail? Or is there something larger at work?

Although it seems be more of Christian based organization. There's really not a whole lot of information on there either. I'm at a loss here, as to how or why they would send this information to me. Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated.

It was obviously just a wrong mailing address or some sort of error down the line, i can't imagine them sending you a novel because your Christian and don't practise the faith anymore. I'm sure it was just an accident

thedarkprojekt, I'd like to think you're right. I guess what really bothers me more than anything is that it wasn't addressed like this:

I just find it disturbing that some religious group reaches out to me without invitation and is some how able to obtain information on me that I've purposefully made difficult to obtain to keep a certain violent family member at bay. The fact that they got my new address plus my old name, after I've gone so far as to change my name, SS#, use a PO Box and have the names of others on my bills and leases disconcerts me.

I had a Jehovah's witness book come through the post once. I couldn't for the life of me understand how they had my name and address. Then my flatmate told me that she was visited one day and couldn't just tell them to leave. So she gave them my name !

I got my own back though. I put her name on a RSPB ad, and she got all this junk mail from them. She can't stand birds

I received the book as well and did some research. "Let My People Go" by Tom Hess was sent by the author through his organization, Jerusalem House of Prayer for All Nations. Using google I found that Tom Hess and his group of fundamentalist Christians concocted a list of one million Jews in the United States and sent the book during the third week of March. What frightens me, I'm not even Jewish and I've never had a listed address. I spoke with a friend and I'm going to send this information to the Weisenthal Center and some other Jewish organizations. The website for Tom Hess' organization is jhopfan.org. I sent a complaint to their website email address: [email protected]. Feel free to send a note to the Weisenthal Center as well.

haha i got that book to! the strange thing about it is 1) im not jewish, and the 2) is that it was addresed to me, but it came to me at my work. i had no idea other people got this

Thanks for this info....got this book in the mail, too, and was searching for info on the web. It's scary because on the face of it, it looks benign but it has this hateful subtext to it. It is saying, "Pray for the Jewish people...pray they get the hell out of the USA and go back to Israel." Hatred is so much more sophisticated these days...

I just returned from Turkey and Israel on tour. There were quite few pentecostal folks in our group, and the tour leader actually took us to Tom Hess' house/prayer site! I did not know that we were going and as soon as we got there, I told my boyfriend that I was very uncomfortable with the set up of the place. It felt 'cultish' for many reasons. I've tried to research him since I've made it back to the states, but I can't find much of anything about him. It all felt really odd though. I did not participate in the 'services' that last for hours.
