I'm not too sure why this is going on... but i'm a State Farm agent... and today i got an e-mail with some information about new tracking of clients and there personal information. Apparently we are now keeping records of all credit card information, payment transactions, etc on any client in our book of business or new prospects.

If i'm not mistaken we never kept credit card information tied into clients or on record (liability purposes obviously)

"2. Beginning October 26 you MUST record cash equivalent payments for transactions made through Life E-Apps, SFPP and NECHO. These must be tracked to comply with the Patriot Act and include payments made by cash, money orders, cashier's checks, bank drafts and traveler's checks. "

???? I'm not too familiar with how this ties into the Patriot act or why exactly we are doing this NOW, years after the act was passed.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me?

Thanks

Yes, because terrorists so often have whole life, full coverage auto, and renter's insurance.

The law in question was supposed to be about finding terrorists. Have you, in your business, seen ANY terrorists purchasing insurance?

Note: I'm not being a smart aleck with the OP, I'm just pointing out the absurdity of what is going on.

Edit to add: I re-read, and it still seems like I am making fun of the OP. That is NOT the case. I appreciate his/her information.

I think I would be asking a lawyer(althought I don't like lawyers very much) to find out what they think. I would also contact the office of homeland security and ask the purpose of this. If they don't want to get an answer, then contact your representative and senator. This sounds fishy to me.
Have you contacted your main office to see if they have an explanation?
Please keep us informed.

"Yer either with uz, or against uz" - G.W. Bush

Which classifies a rather large majority of United States citizens as ...

... Terrorists!

Damn proud to meet ya!
