October - The Action Month

From all I have read on this site and elsewhere, in October, the stock market is expected to crash and create a new Great Depression, aliens are supposed to visit the Earth (some say northern hemisphere and others say southern), a terrorist attack is supposed to happen in one or more cities, causing President Bush to declare Martial Law, the US is going to attack Iran, people will be thrown in FEMA camps, three major hurricanes are going to hit Florida, and California is going to have a massive earthquake and break off.

When October ends and none of these events have come to pass, will any of us learn? If even ONE of these things happens, I will be glad - not because of the terrible things it will bring, but because, unlike all other predictions, IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED.

I just fear for what is in store in November...

The Web Bots foresee consumer society collapsing by mid November 2008.

I understand what you are trying to say with your post. I feel that lately posters on ATS are getting a bit hysterical. It seems like every day there's a new thread on how the world is going to end soon and life as we know it will be over and we will all be hauled off to prison camps.

People need to step back, take a deep breath and just calm the F*** down. So many seem to be waiting for something horrible and catastrophic to happen. Granted there was a time when I thought like this too, after spending a few years on ATS you can't help but become a bit paranoid. Until I realized there was no point in worrying about things I couldn't change.... that I should just live my life, try and make the most of it and be happy.

I suggest to many of you to do the same.

Hi everyone, first time poster. I have just started scouring through the ATS site here and I am somewhat amazed at everything that I have seen written Some of it almost too outrageous for words, but some that really make you think. For most of my life, I have had a feeling of being disconnected. I have remained more observant than I have been interactive. One big example is this post, which is very out of character for me, but I felt the need to do it. I would agree that October does seem to be a crux in time. It almost feels like it is turning into a changing of the guard if you will. I think the reason why so many people have been posting on various topics, not just here on ATS, but on other sites as well, is that an awakening of sorts is beginning to take place. Of course, not everyone gets it, but I think as time marches on, more and more people will begin to escape their narrow view of the world and open up the the different possibilities that exist. Having said that, I think it's also important to remember that keeping an open mind is good, but don't leave it so open that your brains fall out, and I have been seeing a lot of this happening as well. I tend to believe that almost anything is possible, however, I have to think logically as well, so I weigh the possibility of something happening against the probability of it happening. I think this is necessary in most cases. It's this capacity for rational thought that separates us from the rest of the animals in this world. I think more of us should keep that in mind when posting with complete conviction about anything. There is nothing wrong with entertaining the fact that you could be wrong, while still holding onto your belief that you are not. But I digress, I do believe that we are about to see a shift in not only the social climate of the world, but the political, economical and religious aspects as well, and October may very well be that tipping point, so I appreciate the OP bringing this point up.

Well, today is October 7th, and according to the words of one of those prediction bots, it is supposed to be a "monumental" day. Around 10 o'clock here in the west coast, and nothing has happened yet, and, most likely, nothing will happen at all except the standard 24/7 stock market coverage on CNN, only to be broken by the Presidential Debate later tonight.

I think the web bot thingy was hinting towards today's event not being realized until later. I don't know how credible it really is, but I think most of the panic about this month is caused by the markets. It is indeed pretty energized here this month.

Well, here is one thread claiming that "We literally have 24-48 hours before complete Armeggedon world-wide."

I'll give it under the end of Saturday, and if it isn't complete Armageddon by that time, we'll have our first wrong prediction for the month.

It's Sunday, and Armageddon has not reached the shores of America quite yet, although supposedly in two days from now, UFOs are supposed to make contact, so who knows. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Well look at that, October is gone, and not ONE of the things mentioned happened. You know what the sad part about it is? Despite all that has happened, people will still be fooled time and time again, until eventually, one thing will happen out of sheer luck, and they will start boasting like crazy and feeding their egos.

I hope member of ATS have learned not to overhype things the way things have been overhyped as of late.

Is it really all OK with the economy?

I think there are official sources that already acknowledge the possibilty of a Depression due to the recent markets plunges. Or am I that off?

Prominent economists have been predicting a major recession for years. The events of early October showed just how bad things are, but it's been clumsily patched over now, with the horrifically inelegant fix of shelling out 700 billion dollars. The markets will quite likely limp on for another few years, though it's quite clear that the US government is wholly incapable of affording it's current expenses, let alone repaying it's debts, while the major lenders aren't particularly interested in fixing the problems that led them into this mess.

Senator Ted "it's a series of tubes" Stevens was charged and found guilty of lying on financial documents, which was good for a laugh.

Outside America, Iceland's lenders had to be bailed out by Russia, essentially meaning that Russia owns their debt, but being a sovereign nation of less than half a million people, I can't be inclined to care.

News to me is that Germany issued a 500 billion euro bank bailout on the 17th. That's quite a hefty sum; I'm surprised it wasn't all over the news. Apparently it just sets aside the money in case one of their banks fails. I don't think any have actually made use of the money.

In a rare bit of good news, Libya payed reparations to the US for past terrorist attacks, normalizing diplomatic relations.

So, yeah, it was shaping up to be an action-filled month late September to early October, but nothing of outstanding significance happened after the bank crisis. Here's to hoping it stays that way.
