Why is it that we have 1 week to stop "a new great depression" (palin on katie couric quote) by paying 700 billion. Why didn't anyone see this coming a mile away?

why do u trust bernanke, paulson (which mccain said he would fire), and bush to do thisbail out.??????

the scary part is now mccain says bail out paulson or i wil not debate when he just said he would fire him!!!

is this scary or just me?

You do know Secretary Paulson used to work for Goldman Sachs Correct? Earlier this decade he was setting up this contrived crisis.

And get it right, McCain said he'd fire the head of the SEC, not paulson.

Whats funny is that wasn't congress briefed about this in MAY??????????
There is many links of a secret meeting that was held in MAY.
Maybe this is a good cop and bad cop game that congress is doing with the American people.

Well, there were people doing a great job in trying to be honest and informing the people about this, and they were laughed out. People like Ron Paul. In the primaries he talked his arse out about this coming collapse, and as a pay-out, he was ridiculed, vanished from main stream media and as a result lost the primaries.

So DON'T tell us nobody warned you. If you (the average American people) didn't listen, well, there you have it...

the average joe, unless he was blind, should have seen something like this coming down the road at him a least a year or more ago. many did, look through on these boards, people were trying to point out the danger. most didn't want to hear it even. even now, most of the people are just too darn comfy to entertain the idea that we might be facing a total economic collaspe.
I guess that could be deserving of a mild "good job" to the powers that be. seems that they've born the brunt of the hit up till now, lent out their arses, and made sure that we, the people retained our standard of living as long as possible. but, it's a very mild "good job", far too many found an easy way to pick up their riches off of people going into debt. something that you would think would be entirely impossible in a "free market" economy...debt being a valuable assett freely traded.....what an oxymoran!

If it helps to mollify your concerns, my cohorts and I saw it coming around 2002. Sometimes you just have to pay attention to what you overhear "old people" say. Ones who actually lived through the Great Depression can see the signs farther away than us neophytes.

To speak about it so early to people lacking understanding readily opens one to scorn and ridicule. Attemping serious discussion on the matter so far in advance received little more than "that can't happen" and "you have no idea what you are saying". It amazes me the degree of imminence required for people to open their eyes.

And in that the practice of silence with continue. The paranoids usually miss the boat anyway.
