At work today I was in a discussion about the upcoming election. I asked this person which candidate were they voting for. They named their cadidate, then I asked why that one. The answer blew my mind, the reply was "I have a bad gut feeling about the other". Are you serious? A bad gut feeling? Get some pepto if that's the case, don't vote if you have to go with your gut.

It truly makes me wonder how many American voters vote with their gut? No wonder a certain someone has been in office for 8 years. What do we have to do quiz voters before they step in the booth to make sure they are qualified to vote? Please answer this for me, is this the way to choose who to vote for?

I can't believe people actually still believe that their vote counts. The truth is the popular vote really means nothing. Presidents are elected by the Electoral College. Yes the EC should vote in the favor of who their district voted but they are not requred to. I wonder what the reaction would be to an election boycott? That's an interesting idea.

I was under the impression that electorial votes were awarded to the candidates via winning the popular for for that state.

The Electoral Delegate for your district should vote the way your district votes, however they are not required to. They can vote for any candidate they wish.

Thanks for refreshing my memory. With all the other things you forget how the system works.

I'm with you on the boycott, I would love to see how they would handle it. The system is rigged to begin with. I sure hope that they don't vote with their gut....

uh, I had fully intended on voting for 'dubbya' this past election. After watching the RNC that year, even though I cheered along with many others, I had a sinking feeling in my gut that something wasn't right. I got into the voting booth and as I stood there with pen in hand ready to mark next to 'dubbya's' name, that feeling came back; felt like someone had punched me in the stomach.

Against my better judgement AT THE TIME, I went with it and wrote in a lesser known candidate. NEVER have I been more glad that I didn't go with advice such as yours and down a bottle of pepto!!

I cried the whole way home wondering why I had done such a thing... now, these days, I wear a smile knowing that I have an intuition about such things that appears to be DEAD ON!! I don't share in the shame that those who voted for him should be experiencing

I will go with that gut feeling again come this election. Even though my pre programmed mind wants to vote McCain bc he seems a better alternative to Obama, I will write in another candidate knowing that McCain and Obama ARE having their strings pulled by the same cartel.

You seem like a person who knows much about politics. This person openly admits he knows nothing about politics and only listens to one of the candidates. Placing your vote on feeling without actually knowing what you are voting is a bit scary.

Three of these elections, 1876, 1888, and 2000, produced a president and vice president who won a majority of the electoral vote but fewer popular votes than their principal opponents.

www.america.gov...

If that happened this time things could get VERY ugly. Well actually I think things are going to get ugly either way.

Well thank you for the compliment. I must admit at that time I knew FAR less than what I know now and would have been considered an idiot in the area of politics.

I have made it a point to understand what I now realize is "the game" of politics so that I would never again experience that emotional turmoil I felt for a few months after voting against 'dubbya'. It really was a responsibility I took VERY seriously and thought I understood. Now I realize that all of this is nothing but a game that is being played with us, but I still will vote for the candidate that agrees with my conscience, just so I have the right to have a say so.
This year, it will be ron paul (regardless of the fact that he is not running... he is the only person I see worthy of the job)

Well, i trust my gut. It did a summersault when Bush first made president. Its been right ever since.

My gut gives me a feeling about people places and things that my mind cannot give me. My conscious mind.

There was a thread back a bit and we were on complete opposite side. But your last post just made me a JustAMomma friend. You speak with so much passion regardless of what it is about. Your support of Ron Paul is definetly a pick of smarts. High Five

haha! I know exactly which thread you are referring to. I promise, I am not racist. I know whites have their trash as well (one who is in office right now being among that trash that need to be thrown out). Ron Paul is the only one I can come to grips with voting for.. wouldn't matter his skin color... has to do with his record. God bless that old man.

I know you are not racist. Threads like that tend to get overheated.

I really like the fact that Ron Paul exposes the Federal Reserves for the crooks they are. Paul 08'

very true to the first and 2nd statement. Funny how he warned us of our economic troubles specifically citing that we would see it mid september. Ya know, even though he said it, still being one of the one's fighting the brainwashing that has been imposed on me my whole life, I believed him but didn't BELIEVE him (if that makes sense). Yet, here we are. Exactly where the old man said we would be. Still not enough apparently to wake ppl up to who should be in office. Would scare the *snip* out of me if I didn't understand this game.

Yes, well wishes for Ron Paul '08.. I am too much of a realist though to believe that he will be voted in.
I KNOW w/out a shred of doubt in my mind that it has already been decided who will take office. We don't REALLY have a choice ya know.

Rigged! That pretty much somes up the elections. Its obvious that theres an agenda in place. I realized that in 2000 when the best candidate won but still lost.

I understand the whole mixed emotions deal. You want to believe what the old man says because he has been accurate and seems very truthful. Then again its easier to settle for your roots and continue to be brainwashed.

I choose to believe that Ron Paul is legit with his information and am deeply saddened that people don't take him serious enough. Not to mention the media has been doing a wonderful job of keeping him out of the limelight. Outside of ATS I know very few people that know who Paul is.

IMO your last post shows that there is an agenda in place. Things are going to get very ugly...

Rigged. May the gods help us because this is the truth. Ouch! I have tried through posts to show this to even the ppl on here who claim to be out for the truth and so many deny it.

MY GAWD! Can we really call this the land of the free anymore? I will defend the freedoms we do *still* have... I have the freedom to turn off my television and deny the propaganda coming out full force from it and I *do* take advantage of this freedom.

I have the freedom to choose btw paying illegal taxes, but at what risk? I have the freedom to write in any name on the ballot, but is it being paid the due it should? NO!!

FREEDOM is a funny thing and when really researched, it makes one wonder what "free" really means and how it applies to us. No doubt elections have been rigged and all it takes to see this is to start with the research of how VP's are picked these days... when one takes the time to research that ONE tiny area, they will see how far away from the constitution we have been for such a long time.

I must say say your style is very inspiring. Its obvious you are not only knowledgable but also speak from the heart.

People fail to realise that we are no longer free. The Patriot Act allows the government to steal out freedoms if we are deemed a threat. Just the two of discussing this matter probably puts us on some kind of list.

A bit off topic, but I was wonder how bad were you affected by the hurricane?

Am assuming you are referring to "Ike". I was more affected by hurricane Katrina than Ike believe it or not.
Ike merely gave us very strong gusts of wind and I wouldn't have even been aware that is was directly to the east of me had it not been for a good friend (discombobulator) im'ing me and asking me if we were o.k. That is when I checked and saw that this massive storm had worked its way just miles to the east of us. Not even a drop of rain
(which we desperately needed); just a lot of massive wind gusts.

I only say more affected than Katrina in that I still hear the jokes about having the same name as the worst hurricane in America's history. And how convenient for me
that the hurricane made landfall at the exact time I was splitting w/ my now ex.
great jokes that have come out of that event.
