Hey all wasn't sure where to post this.

If the stock market does completely collapse what will happen to ATS?

I have searched and found nothing that really answers this.
I would like to know IF and How the markets might affect the ATS business.

With all the ads flashing on the screen you have to ask?

I don't think you'd see any change.

There are plenty of advertisers to go around so there won't be any issue there.

Also, ATS is not a publicly traded company so whatever happens to wall street won't really effect us here.

Now can you see some of the benefits of the user generated Eco-system?

Well, if the economy goes to poot, I imagine that fewer people will elect to have the internet. While that may indeed affect postings, I doubt that it will cause ATS to close up shop.

Well, Springer will go back to his former career as a pole dancer..and from what I hear,Skeptic has a rather successful sheep shearing business.

The other Mods have a contingency plan to get by, forming a Jazz fusion orchestra, performing hits from Sesame Street.

I actually intend to take up a career as a hitman, targetting people who suggested that I was likely to be playing in a Jazz fusion orchestra

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

Sure it will survive..I know I am a new member but I have to say that I enjoy it and I enjoy because no matter what I read on here and alot of it has truth to it along with big portions of doo doo but I can still decide what I want to believe and even throw in my eight cents worth. We all volunteered to sign up on this website, Nobody held a gun to our collective heads or kidnapped our families and were forced to join ATS, All the rumors about this site are bravo sierra, Its just a great place for people with above average intelligence and the occasional knucklehead thrown into the mix as well to chat about their beliefs and theories and speulations. I hope to see it roll along and maybe even to see a newsletter as well.

Sorry, I think you get the cowbell.

To the original question: It would seem ATS's main burn is bandwidth and server costs, plus salaries. Anyone expect IT costs to skyrocket? Plus, remember SO's recent statement that ATS is now almost completely unbound from any particular co-lo's. And although I'd imagine a general depression would decrease consumer spending, those who would continue to pay for internet access and buy things online would be more likely to be financially 'above water' and still have money to spend... so online ad revenue might not drop as fast as one would expect.

always business as usual.

ED: Yeah, it is 700B.
In a line from the Price is Right: "That's too much".

I think you have stumbled onto one of the biggest conspiracies of all time.
Did you not realise that due to the popularity and integrity of ATS the world economical crash was designed for the sole purpose of shutting ATS down.
Not only that, but the Russian georgian conflict was a direct result of a Russian member and Georgian member getting a little too heated in the debate forum.
Don't ever underestimate the effect of ATS in the world...
