Newcastle College Student Suspended For Protesting Army Recruiters

I'd like to know the full context in which he asked the question, which in isolation does look to be somewhat naive. However, since when has asking a 'dumb' sounding question, make it justifiable to...Paul76:

He his obviously being scapegoated, perhaps being the easier victim by which to make an example of. I feel he will be offered allowance to stay at the college on provision he does not attend any more demonstrations. If he is as principled as the 'OP' makes him out to be...he'll tell them to go take a running jump!

In reading the Sun's entire article, please note that the school had asked him and his Socialist Worker Student Party, to refrain from the activity he was temporarily suspended for:

A student protest is planned when Artem, a member of the Socialist Worker Student Society, SWSS, is brought before college bosses.

A statement released by Newcastle College said: “This is a non-political organisation and therefore does not associate itself with organisations such as the Socialist Worker Student Society.

“In pursuing activities associated with the SWSS, Mr Liebenthal was reported to have disregarded the reasonable requests of college staff while on college premises.

“The college had no alternative but to suspend him until the matter could be investigated and dealt with through its normal student disciplinary procedures.

“Once this process has been concluded, Mr Liebenthal will be advised of the college’s decision regarding this matter.”

He was warned to refrain and he ignored that warning. The school had no choice but to suspend him. Of course, Socialists wanted this to take place, as they get more attention and publicity this way.

Yeah...in reading the entire article, one wonders why only he was suspended, and not his cohorts as well. Still smells of scapegoating to me...

I guess we'd have to ask the school officials to find that out. Anything more would be speculation on our part. I tried to find any follow up articles to the Sun's article, but couldn't find any on-line. I doubt if they would comment, anyway, until the hearing is held.

Really? You don't think generals have estimates of casualties before they go to war? You don't think they plan for how many of their men are going to be killed, and how many wounded? You think they go "Eh, we have no idea how many are going to be killed, we'll just wing it as we go!"

You can bet any COMPETENT General knows about how many of his men will be wounded or killed in any battle action.
