Chief inspector: Iran may be hiding secret nukes

portal.wowway.net

VIENNA, Austria (AP) — The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency warned Monday that Iran may be hiding secret nuclear activities, comments that appeared to reflect a high level of frustration with stonewalling of his investigators.

A senior Iranian envoy accused the United States of trying to use the IAEA as a tool in Washington's confrontation with Tehran. Iran, he said, has demonstrated full cooperation with the agency. Allegations of nuclear weapons work by Tehran is based on forged documents and the issue is closed, the envoy said.

The two men spoke at the start of a 35-nation board IAEA meeting. With time running out before Tehran develops potential nuclear weapons capacity, some worry that Israel or the U.S. might resort to military strikes if they believe all diplomatic options have been exhausted.

And with Tehran showing no signs of giving up uranium enrichment or heeding other international demands, the diplomatic window appears to be closing.

IAEA head Mohamed ElBaradei said Iran's stonewalling of his agency was a "serious concern."

"Iran needs to give the agency substantive information" to clear up suspicions, he told the closed board meeting, in comments made available to reporters. He rejected the Iranian suggestion that the IAEA probe could expose non-nuclear military secrets, saying the IAEA "does not in any way seek to 'pry' into Iran's conventional or missile-related military activities."

"We need, however, to make use of all relevant information to be able to confirm that no nuclear material is being used for nuclear weapons purposes," he said, urging Iran to "implement all measures required to build confidence in the exclusively peaceful nature of its nuclear program at the earliest possible date."

Thank you Gonna-Die. I was wondering how many posts it would take before someone actually READ the frigging post. Come on people. There is enough real stuff going on right now. We don't have to twist and bend stuff to create even more drama.

Could this be another example of the old "bait n switch" trick, the press shouting, "hey people look at that over there" to stop you looking at what's really happening nearer to home ?

yep. I am more concern about our economy then Iran lol.

I heard Russia believes Israel will attack by October or November. SO Russia sent a defense missile system to Iran to help defend Iran from Israel.

I am just saying if we get involve with an attack with Iran our economy will get a hard hit.

Also if you read the article They say .... key word (may) have been hiding nukes lol.

so for them saying maybe hiding nukes it's like a repeat from that Iraq conflict.

I agree with the posts above.

Do you think this will be good enough for bush and Israel to go and attack??

It looks like they are trying to do the attack before bush leaves office.

They are now trying to push it again similar to the same way as they did with Iraq.

Also why was Saddam killed???

If I remember it was because the local people said he done criminal crimes killing his own citizens.

I was explained that the tear gas that they threw on the village was because they know the U.S made a deal with one local person to spy on his activities so saddam didn't know exactly who so they done the whole village to make sure he was dead to stop the spying activities.

I also heard he killed his brother in law because he notice alot of talks that were top secret where getting passed on to the U.S only when his brother in law was present.

He then found out his brother in law started to work for the U.S to spy on him activities.
This is why he killed his brother in law.

I just hope we don't get involve with Iran conflict. We seriously can't afford this.
