hmmmmm I wonder if the dutch scientist has a book out, seems to me he`s on the doomsday bandwagon.

The sun can't explode as far as i know but large solar flares could be a possibility, not sure what would cause them but aren't we nearing the galactic plane soon? I've read the super massive black hole could have an effect due to its spin in the plane of the galaxy, doubtful though?

Not sure heres the right place but when i was really young i had repeat dreams of the sun getting extremely bright and hot outside, it would happen every so often for a minute or so and everyone had to take cover, really weird i remember it considering it was over 15 years ago and i don't know where the idea for the dreams came from, seemed quite random but perhaps prophetic!?

If Sag A* really does harbor a black hole, it ought to shine as an X-ray source. The X-rays would come from hot gas in an accretion disk swirling into the dense gravitational field of the hole. what about the intensity of the sun flames increasing versus the climate change on earth.

Since earth is allready heating up due to its own processes, will this process be accelerated by the increased activity on the sun?

I think you know the answer to your own question. The question is.. what do humans do collectively as a species to prepare for cosmic catastrophe to preserve our way of life. Ark/Lifeboat? Think big.

Seems I mixed up the info from the Dutch Drs. and the info from an episode on the Discovery channel regarding this.
They have a series on NASA now with all the gemini and Apolo flights up to the moon landing ...
