Well, the American spirit has surely undergone an unprecedented transformation since those times when ridiculously low financial burden, as compared with the present, imposed by the British made the colonists reach for the musket. That's the spirit that great nations were made of.

One would expect that the US Congress would gather in an emergency session to let the people know that those bail-out billions taken away from them are of great concern and that "for the people, by the people" is still in effect. But the Congress decided not to lie anymore . . .

The history tells us how the colonists dealt with the "taxation without representation" issue: they started kicking asses. Would the history repeat itself? The indifferent US Congress clearly shows that the Americans are once again taxed without being represented -- only on paper.

The people of this country are to lazy to rise up. The only people that protest are college kids and losers who dont have anything left to do. Then here on ATS we have a bunch of screenname protected babys who say "the goverment cant do that that makes me sad" or "we should rise up in silent protest" the goverment can do whatever it wants. If you beleive conspiracies like ATS does you should know this. military equipment is made for 2 reasons. Restaraning and eleminating our own population and fighting our enemys. Im happy with my life in the US ive got a 2008 Toyota Corolla and lots of moola in the bank and a 31k a year salary and im only 18. This country rocks goverment raised taxes on the water big whoop there not taken my rights away. Peace out

That's right. Violence won't work, 'cause the only violence that the American spirit is capable of are armed conflicts with civilians overseas and running the red lights on the domestic front.

The American Spirit, the energy of all of us combined together by knowledge and perseverance, is capable of anything.

This is precisely what they do not want hence the divisive propaganda and divide and conquer tactics being used everywhere you look.

These people only have power because ignorant people give them this power.

I think it is vital to the American Spirit, to freedom, to become once again strongly united, yet similarly divided. To remain independent, but to recognize the value of life and give a damn. To want to help out your fellow man, and not to be forced to do it.
There are plenty of things we can all do to ''rout out'' the people that have a hold on our money supply and change. But there isn't plenty of time, sadly.

All it is, is silent disobedience. By giving up the comforts of life for a while and not purchasing things that will fuel the status quo. We have to jam the cogs in the machine before we are all enslaved. You can see its coming if nothing changes.
We all have to work together.

The only chance for "silent disobedience" is the election day. If only 3% of registered voters shows up with their vote, then the government will surely notice the vote of no confidence.

The resistence to the infected Wall St. is a notch above futile. You would have to get rid of you credit cards -- slowly but steadily. Just keep one and make sure that you have at least 50% down payment on your purchases. But that's like getting off crack -- impossible.

Congress does seem pretty stupid about all this ... makes them 100% complicit ---just like when they voted in the Fed and voted to join World Trade Organization -- a couple hours before Xmas break.

However, the colonists were also split on public ownership of a central bank vs private ownership of a central bank -- Hamilton was an agent of the Bank of England, and Jefferson was for the people, for public ownership of a central bank that charges no interest.

That's would be great, if no one showed up to vote. However, even though both candidates are agents of the powers that be, I still think Obama advocates job creation, and McCain advocates that the economy is basically fine. Remember, if though Roosevelt was part of the overall Fed problem, he never-the-less created thousands of jobs and huge work projects, and 'social security'. Sure, they benefitted the capitalist bank owners of the fed (the City of London), however, we did get thousands of jobs.

I just shut down 4 credits cards and am paying them off, and kept one. However, it probably bombed my credit score pretty good.

that's well said. however, the American spirit is not monolithic. it's the corporate media that makes it look that way.

for example, you and I are or are not 'the american spirit'.

perhaps it's a better argument to argue 'spirit', not 'american' spirit.

y'know what I mean by that?

advocate humanity and equal redistribution of wealth.

'nationalism' is a self-defeating argument. only when everyone's needs are treated equally, can there be equality.
