A very scary thing happened to me this morning

Hi guys, thought I'd share this little story with you as it's quite interesting, and very scary.

OK, so my Nan and Grandad are currently on holiday for 2 weeks and I have been asked to house-sit for them while they're away as they have a few pets they want me to look after (turtles, fish etc).

The house is very old and is basically in the middle of nowhere with no other house around for miles - just fields and forests etc.

A couple of years ago I remember listening in on a conversation between my Grandad and my Dad - my Grandad was telling my dad how a few nights ago he had woken up in his bed at around 12am and saw a elderly couple sitting on the bottom of his bed, dressed in old Victorian styled clothing (or at least that's how he described them).

I've never talked to, or questioned my Grandad about what I heard him say to my dad, but as I've been told to sleep in the same room as this sighting apparently happened due to it being the nicest room with the nicest bed (yes...they washed the covers before they left
) , I've been thinking more about it.

Anyways - I started house-siting for them 11 days ago, and although its quite eerie at night (huge field behind the house - no other houses in sight etc) nothing much has really happened - until this morning, that is.

Last night I went to bed as normal (around 11ish) and got to sleep quite quickly. I was quite tired and as a result I forgot to take my contact lenses out.

I slept soundly for most of the night, until I was woken by something at around 4am. I woke up to a weird sound - as if somebody was breathing in my ear.

Because I slept in my contacts my vision was somewhat blurry when I woke up. I opened my eyes to see what the sound could have been, and as soon as my eyes opened, I saw dark object cross the path of my vision. I blinked and moved my eyes about for a couple seconds to get by eyesight back to normal but by the time I could see properly, the object had disappeared. It was going around my head for a while trying to figure out what it could have been, but I put it down to my eyes being a little groggy due to the contacts. I closed my eyes again to go back to sleep.

Soon after I shut my eyes to go back to sleep, I was brought wide awake again as I heard a kind of moaning sound coming from the other side of the room - very shortly followed by a huge "HA" only inches away from my ear (or so it sounded).

This really shook me up and I ended up not going back to sleep and got up and walked out of the room. Being the only person in the house house, I had a sense of vulnerability come over me - especially when I realised I've still got 4 nights to go.

I was just wondering what your input was on this, and whether any of you guys have had anything like this happen to you.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a dream as I got up after hearing the noise and didn't go back to sleep - but all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for listening, and wish me luck for the next few nights.

Well if it is a ghost, and I am not saying it is or isn't, I have found it's best to let them know that you know they are there. Literally talk to them, but be prepared for "unusual" events to follow. Also try to keep fear out of your heart. I have found that spirits are akin to animals in that they can sense fear. I have had several experiences with "spirits" and found that most are just lost and confused. The key thing is not to be afraid. Fear just adds to negative energy and IMO "spirits" feed off energy whether it is good or bad. If it turns out to be spirits and you establish contact try letting them know that there time in this realm has passed and it is now time for them to move on. I have helped a few spirits part from this world and it was nothing like the movies. At least I hope I helped.

I hope this helps in some way. I would be interested to know what happens over the next few days.

edit to add:

I had a "something" scream in my head while I was sleeping once so I know how ya feel. The only difference was the person was literally yelling at me with profane lang. and he sounded quite viscous(sp?).

Only you know if what you experienced was "paranormal" or all too human. There are freaks who get off on entering peoples houses and just watch them sleep. They take nothing... they just invade your space. Like I said... only you know... might want to apply ol' Occam's razor here. This would be a perfect time to set up a hidden video camera and record the scene. Whatever shows up would be worthwhile to identify both for your safety and your Gparents.

Check under the bed before you get in it.

And take a hammer with you, instead of your teddybear.

If you have access to a decent radio, put on it on a classical music station, and leave it on while you sleep. (see 1 Samuel 16:23 for this principal)

Also, a fan, something that will provide white noise is also good.

I do not recommend engaging with these spirits....this is how they draw you in and snare you.

Thanks for replies guys.

I actually fell asleep with the radio on, but it was turned off when I woke up in the morning. Old house so it may have had something to do with faulty electrics or something. I don't think it has anything to do with what I heard and saw after I woke up.

Just my opinion and me doing the best to help. I would protect myrself by reading 6: 11-17. All your choice i just feel as a believer of good and evil i must give my opinion. Of course there are more advice i can give but don't wanna thump you. Though if needed i will be back to read here

I agree with SirPaulMuaddib_2I, i would not communicate with it unless i chase it. Others do things differently so read what other members have to say and then choose if not go your way, meaning the spirit/s do not want to leave you alone.

KOGDOG made a good point. It could be people playing tricks so if you catch anything on a recorder you will have some proof be it human or not. In honesty i don't wish it to be some sick person i'd rather sit with a spirit.

Best of luck, all will be fine

Don't want to scare you but I do have a similar story.

When I was in high school I once had a voice wake me up. It kept whispering my name. Scared the crap out of me because I heard it for the last time as I woke up. I didn't have the courage to look around the room, I just lay there frozen and tried to tell myself it was just a dream.

A few weeks later a friend spent the night. He fell asleep on my bed so I slept on the couch. The next morning he told me about a voice that was whispering MY name to him. He said it woke him up and he claims to have seen a pale dim luminescent "thing" in the corner of my room. He couldn't make out any detail.

Funny thing is, I never told ANYONE about the voice whispering to me. For me that proves that there is undeniably something out there that we don't understand.

If you have a nightvision video camera set it up, record your self for an hour each night and see what happens. I too recently have had a few wierd sounds like some high frequency near my ear or something.

Cheers for replies guys.

I spent my last night there last night (thankfully) and I can't say that anything else strange happened to me since that night, which I'm quite pleased about.

One thing I know is that I don't think I'm going to be spending another night there again any time soon.

It could be exactly what you think it is. Take it for what its worth. If this has never happened to you before then you can't say your mind tends to play tricks on you. When I was younger, me and my sister were in the living room at my grandmothers house. She would usually put us down for a nap around this time but for some reason she didn't this day. She went back to her room and went to sleep. Me and my sister were just sitting in the living room playing when suddenly we heard this loud breathing. Like DarkVader, then we heard a rocking chair sound. It kept getting louder and louder. I was looking at her and she was looking at me with an expression that said "am i the only one hearing this". We ran back to my grandmothers and were frantic. We were telling her what happened and she immediately grabbed her HOLY Water that she kept on the dresser. She began to throw it around the house and call on the name of Jesus and it immediately stopped. What got me was she didn't even question if we were telling the truth or not. She just reacted which let me know now that she must have encountered something like this before. Oh and my grandmother was blind and could hear quite well. The point I am trying to make is, take it for what you think it is and prepare yourself just in case. Put some glasses beside your bed and make sure you take your contacts out. If you have a video camera set it up to video the room while you aren't in it and while you are asleep. Sprits are real.

This is how my daughters and I deal with this sort of thing as well. If we didn't we would not sleep much at night.

And yes sometimes its good to let them know you know they are there, and then again.. as was said.. you might want to prepare for more to happen, because once they know they have your attention sometimes they just milk it for everything its worth.
