I wouldn't pick a single one of 'em. If you wanna piss off all right-leaning Americans, motivating them to go in droves to the polls in Nov. - nominate Hillary Clinton.

I agree. Edwards is young, and carismatic. He could really improve Kerrys chances.

I'm no Edwards fan, mind you.. but he is very charismatic (Kerry desperately needs some of that), youthful and comes off as passionate. You know, he really connects with people... He could win over a lot of people - as he did with Deaniacs and independents. The more conservative people (in the Dem. primaries) went for pretty boy Edwards. He's fresh in everyone's minds, too.

I think he should pick the Rev. Al Sharpton. He could get a lot of minority votes with him, and come on-- it's Al Sharpton. I think he will pick Edwards though.

It's kind of too bad McCain wouldn't be his running-mate. That would be a nice bitch slap to BushCo.

I agree with EastCoast although mostly because I think America is ready for a mixed ticket. We are pretty well split (at least the voting public) between the two parties, we are in the most "demanding" time period in history and we are approaching some pretty huge obstacles as a nation.

So let's have Kerry and McCain. We give McCain homeland security (tough republican in charge of homeland defense) and Kerry can focus more on the economy and international relations (right were we want a strong democrat).

What is the worse that could happen, McCain becomes the president. I think he is really in the middle anyway.

It would be a refreshing change, for sure. It would be a blow for the Bush administration, too. For such a prominent Republican to jump ship. I think some Republicans and most of the Independents would glom on to that.

Put McCain and Kerry's combined military experience up against Bush and Cheney and it would be a no-brainer. BushCo couldn't hold a candle to that.

In Canada this is not unheard of, but do you see this as a possibility?

McCain said he wouldn't do it. For either party. Too bad.

Here's what he said about it:

McCain and Kerry, both decorated Navy veterans of the Vietnam War, have worked together on veterans issues in the Senate. Although McCain said last week he would consider an offer from Kerry to be his running mate, McCain's office later issued a statement saying he would not run with Kerry.

"I don't want to be vice president of the United States. I do not want to leave the Republican Party. I would not be vice president of the United States on either ticket," McCain told CBS on Thursday.

I grew up in NY watching The Rev on TV lead lots protests back in his classic track-suit and gold medallion days. I still can't get that out of my head. He was also mixed up in that Tawana Brawley case. That wound up to be an embarrasment. But I guess every politician has their skeletons.

However, I think it should be Kerry and Edwards. I think Edwards would give some much needed color and charisma to the gaunt Kerry.

So far it seems everyone's mostly in agreement on Kerry/Edwards. Edwards is charisma and momentum. Kerry needs that spark desperately.

So, how does everyone think Edwards would fare debating Cheney? I think he'd do well. Probly make Cheney look like Gollum on steroids.
