People sure have been freaking out about how restrictive the DRM is. I can't honestly name more than a few games that I have ever wanted to install more than 3 times.

I don't know. I still think I will be passing on spore. It sounded cool, but it seems like a lot has been stripped out of it. Who knows though....

They did the same thing with Bioshock. I refuse to buy a game that's restricted in such a way.

exactly. instead of buying the game and supporting these horrible steps backwards, just get it for free, or wait until they fix the issue (if that happens).

Actually you can buy it and then download the crack for it. If you download digital media for free you should then delete it after finding it disapointing or buy the original. Without the support of the Authors you would not have the media in the first place.

Although some are overpriced reproduced versions of the last most should be purchased. If I find a game that I'm really into than I do buy it, but most stuff out there is pure crap, just like the movies in theaters.

Oh, I know.. but if you are using the crack anyways - you are already violating the terms, so what's the point? So that you can pay them to call you a criminal (which is essentially what DRM is anyways)?

I'm not paying top dollar for what is essentially a rental.

I am someone that will uninstall a game to free up space for other programs, then down the line reinstall it on a whim to play it a bit more. Many people also format their hard drives regularly to keep everything clean; with the way Spore's DRM is set up it's impossible to do either without making your CD a coaster after three installs.

It was something EA and Maxis could have easily avoided, and they've lost me as a customer because of it. The backlash on Amazon and elsewhere on the internet is a good sign that other people feel the same way.

I bought it and have had no problems with it.

If you KNOW it will only work after three installs, why would you uninstall, reinstall, uninstall, so forth?

If you need space, get a bigger harddrive and transfer things over to it or just buy another one and add it to the one you have. WHy I have a 320 and a 200

I know it will only work for three installs, and that's why I haven't bothered buying it. When I BUY something I expect to own it and do whatever I want with it within reason. If I am treated like a criminal right off the bat, have to buy an external hard drive, or jump through hoops just to play a freaking game then said company can suck my balls and I'll take my business and money elsewhere.

I don't understand the mentality of being fine with something like that. You pay $50 for a CD that only works three times.

Yeah and it's not like it stops piracy or anything.....

for a game that is supposed to be so revolutionary in terms of teaching children (and big children [adults]) it seems pretty restrictive outwardly and inwardly declaring that knowledge should be restricted to those with money, now I am only going on that premise because it seemed to be plugged as an educational tool on Tedtalks where I had first heard about it.

All in all I'm not surprised, I was hyped about it, but now upon hearing this I don't think I'll bother, after-all it's a video game and I can explore the real world without a remote control (most times)
