The capture of Saddam H. I just find it very hard to believe that the most powerful man in Iraq was found in a hole in the ground with a bag of money. I believe this will be Mr. Bush's ace in the hole for re-election. The person found in the hole was once just another iraqi but before he stands trial he will undoubtedly undergo plastic surgery and brain washing. He will look like and believe he is Saddam. Plus he will be able to tell the secret location of the WDM's that he has stashed.

Interesting deduction. If I may follow your train of thought, and if he is indeed a puppet of US as you surmise, maybe he can now say at his NON-PUBLIC "trial" that he stashed them in Syria or Iran?

This would be exactly what US needs to invade. This is going to get interesting, because Syria has a serious issue with Israel, and if Israel decides to suddenly assist US in an open invasion of Syria, we may be looking at the beginning of a much larger war as the likely outcome.

All Arabs may join in, as well as the allies of Israel and US...

You present a good theory. I have read that there is a possiblity the real Saddam has given up his dictatorship in exchange for leaving the country for safehaven and that this was negotiated with the intelligence groups of the "coalition". Anyway, it's possible that the person presented by the media is a body-double for the real Saddam.

As I have read also, Saddam's Republican Guard Soldiers were in effect allowing the "Coalition" forces to enter Baghdad unimpeded. There was mention that the Republican Guard did not destroy the bridges leading into Baghdad so as to slow down the "coalition" forces. So, the Republican Guard was somehow ordered to let the invading forces take Baghdad unimpeded.

Something to think about.

If such is true gentlemen and ladies, explain these and then the subsequent confirmation of this after Saddam's alleged capture?

I'd like to see the full date stamp in that picture.

(btw-I don't doubt Hussein's capture)

Would a "body-double" have the same DNA?

Try these:
DNA confirms that Saddam was captured

Yes< I also think that Saddam might be more than one person and that the real Saddam might be dead. Can we believe the US military when any thing is said?

Hrm, depends, but in the case of Saddam, yeah...DNA tells no lie.

I believe the man they found was indeed Saddam Hussein. But I think they knew where he was the whole time. What are the odds of looking in that location in a shack, under a pile of carpets in a hole?

DNA is only as accurate as those responsible handling it. Just like someone could take your DNA & drop it at a crime scene if they wanted you badly enough. Sadam's DNA sample could have been changed to one of his stand ins and that could be who we have.

Do I think it's him - yes. Still, I enjoy reading the conspiracys like this.

I wonder how many nights Nick Nolte stayed up in order to look the messed up.

I think that is unlikely Tekno88,

It was an ongoing intel gathering operation for 4th ID, and they got lucky finding some people that knew where he had been moving around and hiding, they got some good intel from some people who knew Saddam and they got lucky that he was still there when they found him.

I also think that the media portrays it as far easier than it was to capture him. They just did not report previous searches that ended in failure.

What group or agency actually captured Saddam? This guy holding Saddam has on a Desert Gore-Tex, which suggests to me that he is American. I don't know of anyone else there beside the British who would bother to afford that type of gear for their soldiers.

On the other hand, this man has a goatee. Were AR-670-1 guidelines relaxed in Iraq at that time? With the possible threat of chemical or biological attack, I would think not. Americans aren't authorized the wear of a beard of any kind unless they are granted modified grooming standards for their particular mission.

Seeker or anyone, any thoughts?

DeltaChaos,

I've read that it was Task Force-121 that captured Saddam. From my understanding TF-121 is a special group made up of US special forces. Supposedly TF-121 was formed specifically to act upon intelligence info. regarding high value targets (i.e Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin-Laden, Al-Zawahiri etc.). I could be wrong, but I would think that any such group would have modified grooming standards. Especially when operating in an Arabic area, where almost all men wear facial hair. JMHO.
