ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — BREAKING NEWS — Pakistan's prime minister survived an apparent assassination attempt Wednesday when at least two shots hit his limousine as he drove toward the capital.

Officials said Yousuf Raza Gilani was unhurt and brought to safety after the incident on the main highway leading into Islamabad. Zahid Bashir, the premier's press secretary, said two bullets struck the driver's side of the vehicle in a "murder attempt."

Déjà vu! So what’s new? Pakistan is on the brink, tumbling from one disaster to another. This latest episode was waiting to happen what with the Taliban ruling the roost in the NW tribal areas, Shias fighting Sunnis for domination, killing thousands on both sides, Al Qaeda holed up in the mountainous regions of Northern Pakistan, terrorists egged on by the ISI, the notorious intelligence agency of Pakistan that runs a parallel government providing cover for infiltration into India and Afghanistan, the break up of the PPP-PML bandwagon resulting in a directionless lame duck government and so on.

Can Pakistan be saved from itself? It’s a failed state if ever there was one!

Nah, things will work out for them in the end, you just have to be patient.

I'll say one thing, that man is probably putting heavy investments into bullet proof glass now... it saved his life!

Lets hope they don't react too harshly to this... overreacting, when the enemy is part of the people, just makes the people your enemy.
