Basically I've lost 15 pounds almost in the past 2 weeks. The only thing I've done is not eat late at night. Should this be a cause for concern?

I would advise you get to a doctor asap to examine you to be sure. Nobody here is qualified to dispense such advise, please go to a doctor or hospital.

That does sound like an alarming rate to be losing weight and I'd be concerned.

I wish you well

Are you trying to lose weight, or has it just happened unwantedly?

1st go get a check up,

It could be that your not having enough calories or it could be a thyroid problem, So need to get a check up ASAP,

Update us

Definitely get a check up. Unless you've been maintaining a high caloric deficit or you've completely removed carbohydrates from your diet, it's unlikely that your diet has anything to do with 15 lbs of weight loss in less than 2 weeks. That's definitely alarming. I have a feeling there is something you're not telling us though.

Nonetheless, see a doctor Steve! Just to be safe! Hope everything turns out ok. Keep us informed.

First, get a check up and, hopefully, post what the outcome was. A checkup would include blood workup with smear, thyroid, chemistry and maybe even hormones and PSA.

Assuming everything is normal, then the next best thing to do is get some accurate readings.

What was your pre-weight and how often do you weigh. Maybe you made a math error. What was your post weight and what is your weight now.

What were you eating late-night? How many calories?

How much activity do you sustain per day, and per week?

Was this weight loss intentional or unintentional? Do you feel you've lost fat weight, or (mostly) muscle weight? Do you feel weak (or strong?).

In essence, more information is needed.

Unless you're actively trying to cut weight and cut water (as in preparing for a wrestling meet), then losing 7lbs/week is very high.

Since a pound of weight/fat is equal to 3500 Kcals, that means you had a 24,500 calorie deficit. Considering that a plain hamburger is about 245-250 calories, that's equivalent to eating 100 less hamburgers per week than usual.

Even total fasting, and wasting syndrome would be unable to sustain a 7lb/week, unless you were going without substantial fluid replacement. (Though sometimes the first week of the fast up to 15lbs could be lost since most of food is evacuated from the intestines).

Anyway, get back to us with more info and good luck on your checkup.

I was thinking the same thing badge, More information is needed here.

However, in addition to badge's check up suggestions, I would suggest that you also test your fasting blood glucose. Sudden weight-loss is also a sign of diabetes and if this is the case, you'll have high blood glucose.

Good luck.

Hey. I will try to give some more information. I've been drinking a lot of coffee and taking a non stimulant ADD medication. I don't know if that's important but I thought I would add that in.

Otherwise I feel great. Any thoughts? Anything I should add?

Did you ask your doctor ?
This could be any number of conditions from gastrointestinal or digestive diseases and disorders to hyperthyroidism and could even be due to your medications you take.
I stand by my initial suggestion to ask a professional and not people on the internet.

Please do so

Eating late at night is the easiest way to put on weight. You pretty much fill your stomach with food, and then turning your body off so it doesn't digest it. I don't think you have any stomach or GI problems. I think the problem was just bad eating habits.

I went to see a Gastrointerologist and he looked at my chart that said I have obsessive compulsive disorder on it and he said it was all caused by stress....then he started talking to me about how worrying about my health can be a compulsion....I was like "what the.....f----?" So I went to my physician to get a second opinion and she was like "I agree it's caused by stress". Then she started the same speal about how worrying about health is a compulsion. They didn't even look at me.

While I'm not an expert, I like to pretend to post as on one on the internet.

And I recommend you getting some crown and getting down.

What I'm worried about is that I think it might be cancer or something wrong with my thyroid like I think someone stated because I'm sweating a lot.

How do I tell if something is wrong with my thyroid?

I would definitely persist with your doctors. Having your thyroid checked is as simple as them taking some blood from you and testing it.

Be persistent. Stress may just be all it is but you want to be sure. Make them understand this.

All the best.
