LONDON: Hours after publicly announcing that he will be suing the Scotland Yard for racism, Britain's most senior Asian police officer has been asked by superiors to "shut up" and "get on" with his job.

Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur went public on Thursday with a highly damaging legal action against Sir Ian Blair, accusing the Metropolitan Police chief of repeated acts of racial, religious and age discrimination. ( Watch )

He really has gone the whole hog; race, religious and Age. Pretty much proves he is after making the Met look bad or after the money.

You have got to be having a bloody laugh. he is the third most powerful Policeman in the Metropolitan Police. He has been promoted over other officers of all races, to the third spot.

How is that racist? that can only be racist to some power mad idiot who wants 'top dog' slot.

He should shut up and stop moaning, or else all the white officers below should sue him for being racist against them as he got promoted and they didn't.

I hate a moaning greedy grasping fool who cannot see how un-racist his career has been in the met.

Dan Tanna and BBTBE, in my opinion both of your comments are spot on. I am an ex Police Officer and can understand the resentment other Officers will feel on this issue.

He's suing for 1.2 million pounds? How much racism could a man possibly go through to justify getting paid 1.2 million pounds for it? I think he's just doing it for the money, and he won't get it either hopefully. I can't believe a man in his position would do this when there's clearly many other people in a far worse situation than himself because of racism, and who deserve the money more.

Given that hes lived in this country since the age of 14 after being hounded out of Idi Amin's Uganda and becoming a legitimate political refugee, and has served as a Police officer since the age of 16 - and he's 50 now, I'd say he's as much a part of MY country as anyone else, and he's probably done more in his time as a Policeman to serve MY country and enforce OUR laws than anyone on this board is ever likely to do, and he's probably experienced a damn site more racism in his time than any of us ever will, and is eminently qualified to discuss it.

Uh, how can this be about racism? Muslims aren't one race but many. They're a religion (for God's sake).

I would say that i am disappointed but the truth is, ever since this thread started i have been expecting a response akin to Neformore's.

It is a real shocking time whenever any serious discussions on similar matters to this are about to take place, the race / religion / gender / age card is thrown in.

On the flip side, the police force are pretty much the most racist organization going.

I dont agree with all the put downs lately of the police force, i am applying to become a police officer in Janury 2009 and i will be proud to serve as a part of the instituion that tries to keep the streets safe.

As far as this case of racism that this officer is claiming, i would take the story with a pinch of salt as it were.
There could be any number of reasons why this particular officer is complaining and probably just using the matters of race religion and age as tools to "get at" those whom he has a problem with for some reason.

As I can't reply to the U2U warning sent to me by a mod (deducting 500 points) for my post (it was deleted) . My comment has now reappeared but the 500 points are still deducted, Why? ! All I did was mention a book !!

Its the same in every European country as well as the US. Only those not white can have organizations that list themselves according to race or religion. Its reverse racism in its worst form. Let no one ever call any other race but white, racist. That principle in itself is, racist. A real shame for all races!!!
