I was certainly surprised by McCain VP pick . McCain and his team seem to have calculated that the religious right is dead at least for now . Given how the Republicans only pay lip service to pro lifers come election time . Anybody who thinks otherwise is extremely naive .

Shame on you McCain, for you have proven you want to win more than you want us to win. You want to be on top, at our expense.

Boy, I couldn't have said that better if I tried.
What was it McCain said about Obama being willing to lose a war in order to win an election? Well, apparently McCain is willing to do whatever it takes to win an election...

I hope people become wise to this.

I'm really in a confused state of mind on this election. I don't like either one completely. They both have good and bad points. I think many are like me and torn on who to choose. I started to lean to Obama and then to lean toward McCain and now I'm back to square one again.

Hillary is a whiner. A lot of Hillary supporters just wanted to see a woman in office, and now they can.

Thats an extremely simple-minded assesment, and exactly the one that clinton supporters will be turned off by.

Ah what the hell, I think both the presidential candidates are so inconceivably unqualified to run this country, that she could hardly do worse if a 72 year old man who's had cancer twice doesn't happen to make it another 4 years. And as Mayor of a town of 5,600 people, she likely took on more responsibility than Obama has his entire career.

Of the two presidential candidates and their choices for VP, Biden is the only one who should be allowed anywhere near the white house.

our food and everything is way up, some stuff has nearly doubled in a year.

Congratulations both parties

Food and Gas go up faster here and food was already higher. Wages are good here and jobs are plentiful but thats because not enough people want to live here.

We definitely need politicians willing to break ranks with their parties.

Im not even a Democrat and I know that out of all four candidate who are running, Joe Biden is the only one who is honestly a well deserved and well qualified candidate for president.

As it sits I will most likely not be voting at all this November.

His boss was who was fired and I know him. The chances he is lying are very high and most sensible people here are ignoring this one. He is just trying to come up with a way to get his job back so he started a bunch of crap. Some people don't take well to being fired and they will say anything to get even with the person who fired them. That is the fact in this case. And the other guy
Do you know what a Good Old Boy is? Tazed his own kid. Used his car for personal business. Shot a Moose illegally. Anywhere else he would have been fired but his Good Old Boy boss covered it up for him. Nobody but other Good Old Boys are on his side.

Interesting how people who don't even know the details are convinced they know the truth. Deny Ignorance? Not when the Partisans get involved.

Palin's stance against a woman's right to choose even as a result of rape or incest will sink the GOP. Or she will flip flop, that's probably more likely.

I don't think forcing a woman to bear the child of a rapist or incestuous relationship will sit to well even with the most conservative women. And the GOP can just kiss the moderate and independent women good by.
For awhile I thought that the GOP might have scored one for the Gipper,
But when you analyze it, a hail mary pass that fell quite short.

I have a feeling the Dembs will play this one for all it's worth. As well they should.

She only has been governor of Alaska for a year and before that she was a mayor of a small town.. If you know where Hondo, Texas is.. it's just as small as that, even smaller

If 72 year old McCain gets elected, and he dies, she will be our president

It looks like he just tried the find the best woman he could to help score some votes

I'm a woman and this doesn't incline me to vote for him any more than before

What would be shocking, and pretty cool, is if he had a democrat for a vice president! I'd probably vote for him, actually
I know that's just out of the question and breaks some unknown laws about politics but whatever! it'd be cool and I'd vote for him and his effort

And yet he lost the primary.

And also the media deemed Obama as a better choice seeing how they totally ignored Biden during the whole primary when he ran. I guess people should stop listening to the media and the black vote when it comes to picking presidents.

Additionally, the president is part of the executive branch, just for everyone's information. Being a state governor, or a small town mayor none the less, provides more administrative and executive experience than being an old fart senator that just draws up a bunch of laws without caring how they are interpreted and enforced, and votes yes or no on them.

Obama bin Biden and McCain actually have much less governmental executive experience than Palin, even if her only experience was being a mayor of some small town rather than her state governorship experience that the media and Obama's team are trying to get people to ignore.

I doubt it. Most Hillary supporters don't actually think the way you imagine they do. This woman works hard, still has 5 kids, and gives women all around America the image they want. We will see come November, but I think the Republicans have mobilized their base. And a lot of people have been impacted by affirmative action and BS over the past decades.

Even the Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro were not as unfavorable in their comments as would be expected:

Hillary Clinton, who was defeated by Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination and then passed over for the VP slot to the dismay of many of her supporters, said she was "proud of Governor Sarah Palin's historic nomination."

"While their policies would take America in the wrong direction, Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate," Clinton said.

Geraldine Ferraro, the only other woman ever to join a major-party White House ticket, with Democratic presidential candidate Walter Mondale in 1984, called the choice an advance for women.

"I am really pleased to see that the McCain campaign has reached out to a woman," she said, adding she would have liked to see Clinton on the Democratic ticket as well.

Is that why they don't use the term "abortion" and rather use the term as "women's rights" instead?

If the dems think abortion is a winning issue for them, why do they always have to sugarcoat the term and sue advertisers that display images of aborted fetuses?

Yea I hope the dems play this for all it's worth too.

"Honestly" and Joe Biden are rarely used in the same sentence.

Haven't you ever read about how Biden lifted an entire speech from a British politician, down to repeating the British politician's life history as if it were his own?

Biden is exactly the type of politician that Obama had been campaigning against up until the day he picked him. Notice how Biden hasn't helped the polls at all? Heck, Biden came in 5th among Dems in Iowa before he dropped out.

I would say of the four candidates, he is the last one I (or most other voters) would select. Palin has an 80% favorable rating in Alaska. Obama was selected by the Dems. McCain was selected by the Republicans. Who exactly wants Biden?

She's his choice for 2012. She needs a route to Damascus to be pro-choice by then. Oh, how I love difficult decisions....... (IMHO UK) I think I'm not that far wrong?

She also stood down the big oil companies here in negotiating a gas pipeline deal. There is no big oil connection with her either. Lots of us were surprised.

Is a person who cleaned up a State Government and stood toe to toe with

Were you also surprised when she gave the contract for the pipeline to a foriegn company sending more tax dollars out of the country?

As for the budget, her budget is the highest in Alaska's history, even with her construction cuts. She cut stevens type projects which even our bachward ass goverment had enough sense to cut.

She also ends up handing out money to citizens, which originally came out of our pockets at the gas pumps. this same money makes it a breeze to balance Alaska's budget and cut prperty taxes.

As for Alaskans liking her, they also voted for Stevens despite his corruption.

She has given birth to 5 children, the last one she knew had Down syndrome from prenatal testing, and she is as strong a pro-life candidate as I have EVER seen. Your comment is completely asinine.

I don't think most conservatives want that or that would ever happen either.

I think what they want is children not to be considered an STD and Abortion to not be a form of birth control

And

SEX is not the and all and be all Human right, sex is a luxury and needs abit more respect because it IS the way we reproduce and that's why the urge is there

and sex has become ridiculously overrated in importance in our lives and around most of the world American woman are considered Whores

Having the right to have sex with who you choose is a given, becoming addicted to it, needing it daily to function and it being the thing your life revolves around is pathetic and worthless

I saw an article on CNN... the other day, called trading Sex for favors and it was a positive article about a woman who went to Brazil and gave sex to some native forest guy in order to be taught about the trees...she stated "I didn't find him attractive"

and this is a Positive article for woemn and you think there will be an America one day?

That's feminism and female empowerment blowing a native in the rain forest to learn about the trees?

What do you suppose our country or that woman is thought of by that guy and his friends? What do you think the no 1 issue in Islam is with the West

That's not empowerment thats utter degredation...

A woman goes to Brazil from America that kid should be carrying her bags dreaming about her and getting his dollar tip

Very few people want to ban abortions where a womans life is at stake or she was raped

But going to the rainforest and blowing some guy that lives in a hut then coming home and killing hs offspring if you get pregnant is no woman I ever want to even know, a chick like that should be sent up on the space shuttle and not allowed to land again

People throw around terms like "useless eaters"

Look at the lives some of us are leading while this woman had 5 children and still might become VP or even President!

I'm sorry, abortion isn't birth control, it's an unanswered question where life begins and there are a dozzen good ways to avoid pregnancy

Going to Fuddruckers on a Thursday for screwdrivers and taking him the busboy feeling guilty about it then having your insides scraped a month later is ridiculous
