Why
Russia may think she can win a Nuclear War
Assuming what's said in the article is true, that given the MAD theory, the west has leveled off production of Nuclear Weapons, while Russia has
increased production, surpassing the US...Where do you think we are now? Could this be even more of an issue now?
After the break up of USSR, and Russia's economical collapse, did we count them out? Did we stop focusing on a war with Russia? Did we wipe them
off of our "uh oh" list to focus on smaller "rogue" countries?
I would hope that any prudent thinker considers that regardless of Russia's economic or political situation, they're not going to slump into
oblivion. Not after going toe to toe with the US for so long. Not after both countries staring down the barrel and waiting for the other to flinch.
I would hope to we still kept a close eye on what was going on within SU/Russia.
There was talk in the late 90's, early 00's perhaps, of the deplorable civilian situation in parts of Russia. That
all of Russia's spending
was going into Defense.
Russian-US relations had warmed a bit in the last decade or so, relatively. Even, from "Foreign Policy in Focus"...
Since 1992, the U.S. and other donors have provided Russia billions of dollars in aid for radical economic "reforms," largely defined as
privatization of state-owned assets.
Was Russia being chummy, getting some help and biding it's time until it's return to the world stage?
But, if this is all true, then the US couldn't have underestimated Russia, could they?
What's with the missle shield? Iran? Rogue States? Please. It's in Poland. It's 100 miles from the Russian border. It would be in great
position to catch something traveling...west?
Did US see something coming? Is the missle shield evidence of that?
We couldn't possibly have slept on Russia for the past 20 years...could we?
