Hey everybody. This isn't my first post, but it occurred to me that I ought to still introduce myself and let everybody know what my schtick is.

You can call me Leo (my parents called me something else, but I've called them a lot of things, too) and I grew up back East. There are a couple of things that probably triggered my conspiracy oriented view of the world and of history--I'll tell you about one of them now and one later.

I grew up with a silver spoon rammed halfway down my throat and didn't really manage to unlodge it until sometime in college. The town where I grew up was pretty secluded and very affluent. A lot of the people I was shipped off to school with have last names you'd recognize, a lot of them are going to start getting media attention in the next couple of years. It's a new generation coming of age. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

My town also had an unusually large number of high school kids who just vanished. It wasn't like a bad horror flick or anything--we didn't have waves and waves of people disappearing never to return. But for a small city, we had more than our fair share.

Usually people just assumed they ran off and got hooked on something. You have a bunch of bored spoiled kids who have some means and every now and then you know a few of them are going to get hooked on coke or smack and either their families kick them out (and don't exactly brag about it later when it turns out nobody knows where they ended up) or else they just take off on their own for brighter lights and bigger cities. It wasn't a very long train ride to New York or Philly or Baltimore.

There were these wild rumors among the people I hung out with that there were human sacrifices going on nearby, that at least some of the kids who disappeared were being killed ritualistically out in the woods.

I never saw any evidence of this, but check it out:

This guy I was friends with, whose family name you'd definitely know, started getting progressively weirder one summer. We couldn't figure out what, if anything, he was taking, but something was definitely up. He started getting weird phoencalls at odd hours and having to excuse himself immediately from whatever he was doing. Sometimes he'd show up at somebody's door at two or three in the morning, covered in mud and obviously shaken up and he'd just sit around not saying much. He was demonstrating classic junkie behavior, the kind of behavior we'd all observed a time or two before by that time.

He also developed a fixation on very violent pornography and on firearms. When he started toting a gun he lost a lot of friends, because when you're 17 and have a bright future, a little pretend danger is cool but an unstable junkie carrying a gun is pushing it a bit too far.

For some reason, I was one of the few people who stuck it out with him, I guess because on some level I just wanted to see how bad the worst could really be. No matter my motives, I did like the guy and I was a pretty good friend, even when he raved about odd things.

One day he was gone and nobody was exactly shocked. But a few days later I got a journal he must have mailed me right before he disappeared. I don't wanna go all Lovecraft on you, but the journal said some pretty disturbing things. No human sacrifices but definitely some unsavory, psychosexual, often violent secrets about some important people who lived nearby. And there definitely was a ritualized element to it all...nothing about human sacrifices but lots about mystery cults and sadomasochistic rites. No pictures, nothing that would have been hard evidence. Just an account of what his life had become in the months before he dispapeared.l

I learned to look at people and events differently from this. I learned to look a little beneath the surface. It could have all been made up, but it was so graphic, so matter of fact and so lucid that I believed.

I want to know more. It feels wierd saying that, but it is very interesting... Is he completely gone?! People don't just disappear too easily. People can be found.

sounds like some towns in connecticut, a very odd state. Im intrigued

it does go on.. its been going on...when will it stop?

Points are a valuable commodity around ATS and some members want to know how to gain points quickly. There are several ways to do this. One is to podcast, Podcasting if you don't already know is kind of like making your own little radio show about some subject that you’re interested in. Also contributing to TinWiki is a great way to make some points in a big hurry. Also by joining up with Twitter, you can get a lot of points right of the bat.

In BTS (our sister board) one can also find fun games and contests that are happening now, and also get you those points. By signing up with ATS you are automatically signed up for BTS as well, all you need to do is log in and join in the fun with the rest of us.

One should also familiarize themselves with the Terms And Conditions Of Use for proper ATS etiquette and site rules, this helps everyone avoid problems.

After Christopher disappeared, his mom hired a PI to try to find him and the investigation turned up bupkis. I made copies of the journal Chris sent me and gave it to the investigator, but I don't know how seriously he ever took it.

As far as I know, nobody has heard from Chris since he vanished. His mom, dad and sister all say they haven't, and the same goes for all our mutual friends.

I keep hoping someday he just turns up somewhere someday and says he just had to blow town for a little bit and that the journal was a big joke and he can't believe I bought into it. But I don't think that's going to happen. It's been about ten years now and he's still just missing.
