SETI on 60 Minutes last night.

I would have posted this last night, as it was happening, but the ATS servers were down.

Last night (Sunday) 7.30pm, Channel 9, Melbourne, MSM TV, 60 Minutes had SETI as their number one feature story.

Of course Seth was telling us all how his bank of telescopes is listening. The reporter also went to JPL (I think) to watch some of the Phoenix team in action. There was also a segment about the Kepler telescope that's due to launch soon.

It was a warm, feel good story with the orchestral music from 2001 in the background, to provide the emotional uplifting overtones.

Why is MSM TV trying to win over the sheep lately?

Always good to see some honest researchers and scientists getting much needed airtime! Go SETI!

Honest? Wow... there's a word that I wouldn't have used to describe SETI scientists...

one thing that stuck in my mind when i was watching it, was a comment about the probability of a sentient alien life form looking like us was supposed to be 1 in a trillion or something like that.

was he talking about them actually looking human or them having human charecteristics like 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 eyes, hair etc? e.g greys, reptillians

SETI is like listening for a slug to fart on the other side of the world, Just my opinion. Who knows? They may prove me wrong. I would gladly eat my words.

I was spending too much time bumming around on the net and doing some work-related stuff that, plus dad was watching TV and mine is out for repairs at the moment.

Trust me, mate, you didn't miss much. There wouldn't have been anything presented that you would not have known previously.

The whole reporting package was desiged to poke the typical MSM zombie into thinking that there may be ET life and we're close to finding it. It was really soppy, like a bad love story.

I took it as a wake-up message, sowing the seeds of disclosure... Either that, or the necessary steps to make a false-flag alien attack believable to most of the sheep.

Yeah I watched it. It was ok... It annoyed me how the reporter was shocked when the seti guy said there has to be without a doubt life on another plant and the reporter was like ohh you really beleive that? You would have to be a fool not to beleive it really. But even though it didnt really provide any good facts any coverage is better then no coverage right?

While I'm not very pleased with their lead guy trying so sadly to debunk UFOs, I can appreciate what the facility is trying to do, even though I personally think they need to revise their ideas about what sort of signal they can expect to receive. Any visilibility that links hard science with aliens or ufos is a very good thing imo.
