MADRID, Spain - The incoming Socialist government intends to stick by its pledge to withdraw Spanish troops from Iraq by June 30, even though some world leaders have asked it to reconsider, the prime minister-elect said Wednesday.

In an hour-long interview on radio Onda Cero, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said �the occupation is ... a fiasco.�

From the outset of this Iraq crisis, debate, and eventual war, the United Nation's did not take control of the situation!

Didn't the defunct United Nation's "cut-n-run= bail arse" after they were bombed, and after they hired their own security, in Iraq?

The United Nations has then spouted that they will only maintain a permanent presence when they are guarenteed security?

The United Nation's is run by a bunch of corrupt, blind heathens that have more in common with the likes of Saddam, Kim, Assad, etc. then with what they are really good for: humanitarian efforts, medical, food, cultural, etc.

Hell, the Iraqis don't even want the defunct United Nation's back!

Spanish government didn't collapse. 83% of the citizens didn't change their vote intentions. Aznar rulement of the country was finished when they supported the US in a not-illegal but also not-legal war against Irak, against the will of 90% of the population, against the will of the UN, but supported in a legal fissure on one of the resolutions.

To day, no proof links the attack with Al-Qaeda, but extremists from Morocco, and the supposed Al-Qaeda tape is from the same source who claimed USA electrical leakages. Credibility: zero.

The terrorist wanted to disrupt our way of life: didn't suceed. Even the international political game to blame Al-Qaeda to gain support in the war against terrorism didn't succeed. Al else is FUD.

So Seekerof, I hope you'll feel proud of your dancing over the tombs of the dead, dancing to the music of the political games. Congratulations, lil'puppet.

Although the spanish goverment "didn't collapse" they screwed themselves into such a hole that they were doomed.

The bombers achieved their aim, and the Spanish people fled the responsibility their country had made to help in iraq, for the cliche'd cowardness of the new president.

The occupation was a farce, but at least the last Spanish government tried to do something about it instead of jeering safely from the sidelines, having run off the field after the first attack they recieved.

did they mention in the US media that the families of the victims gave Aznar a boo-concert when he arrived at the state funeral? same for thr US and UK delegates...

I agree, they screwed themselves when aiding USA against the UN.

Spanish citizens felt as a responsibility to get out of this ill-planed war ASAP. The cowardness cliche was impossed by your media who claimed the decision to retreat was influenced by the attack, when in fact was taken monts ago.

Those troops should not have gone to war in the first place.

Nor terrorist attack nor international political games upon the tombs of the dead would change that single fact: the Spanish troop retreat was stated from the very beginning of the war. In fact, they should never have gone to war.

Besides, the new Spanish President stated that troops will leave Iraq *only if* the UN does not endorse an extension in time of the occupation on behalf of the Iraq country security. That said, even the USA troops should leave by June. Too much have been told, but no retreat has been done.
