Menacing 'Bubble Clouds' can be mistaken for UFO's in Uk

Too dumb to post pics so I can only provide the link but these pictures are definately worth a look.They look like the underbelly of a massive alien ship yet are harmless (but unusual)clouds who ,intriuigingly, are scientivally called the Latin name for boobs.

If any supremely gifted techhcies can post the pics I would be eternally grateful..so for amusement and delight....(sorry having a bad spelling,as well as a bad hair day)Cheers Fellow ATS'ers

Wow, a mammatus cloud the region must have had a bad thunderstorm a few hours after the photograph was taken

That does look pretty strange, if I didn't know it was a mammatus cloud, then I'd cack myself and run for the nearest cellar. I wonder what would happen if light aircraft flew through it.

I would laugh if i saw a mammatus cloud then a few minutes later, alot of UFO's flying through them haha

If you guys enjoy these, go search for "Lenticular clouds" in google or yahoo. These are also trippy looking and most of the time UFO shaped. Very interesting stuff!! If anyone can find a nifty pic of one, please post it!!

Mammatus clouds are caused by large amounts of water vapour being held in the air by summer heat.According to the article a lobe of the cloud can be a mile long(yikes).Internos ,that last picture where the sky has a red hue literally looks like hell on earth -scary stuff.

I know what you mean.Lenticular clouds are often used by ufo deniers as an explanation for sightings in some circumstances but they are very weird to look at I agree zypher.

you wouldn't. if you looked outside and saw that, tie the plane down and try another day. bad bad bad weather follows that

Ah yes Mammatus

Really common underneath cumulonimbus and other convective cloud types. Amazing when it i occurs in altomcumulus and covers the entire sky as well

Anybody with eyes can see that they are clouds and not UFOs. The government is spewing out propraganda as there is an increase of valid sightings in the UK.

They are trying to keep a lid on it, by undermining the intelligence of the public.

I laughed when I read the article. First of UFOs operate with some intelligence, and many can be easily recognized. The shield like UFO in the photo that I took using my 35mm Samsung. I have the negative is by no means a cloud.

Rachel07-that is weird.Never seen one like that before.Did you take that from a plane?No,I disagree with you ,I can understand why somepeople might percieve clouds as ufos'.I think I heard somewhere that they can disguise themselves as ufos.

No its surely not a cloud, it just a lens flare.
You should not conclude too much from just a picture, it'd have been another matter if you had actually seen this thing with your own eyes....

Honestly, I don't see how these mammary clouds could be mistaken for a UFO! From the description I might .....

They are also nearly opaque, making them look far more tangible than a mass of droplets and ice flecks.....When agglomerations of condensed water vapour become concentrated-enough, and the light strikes them in the right way, some low-level clouds can give the appearance of being solid objects.

.......but from the evidence of images in this thread there are none that are close to being ufo-like ! Does anyone have a singular mammatus cloud image that might resemble a mother ship?
